The Land Transport Department has announced it will introduce "big bike" driver's licenses next year for motorcycles with engine capacity of 400cc or more.
Sanit Phromwong, director-general of the department, said the new regulation would not have retroactive effect.

Well, this should be interesting. I wonder what the enhanced requirements are going to be.

Wonder what "the new regulation would not have retroactive effect" entails? I hope it means that current licenses remain valid, even for big bikes, as I have 4 years left on my current one. In the greater scheme of things, however, I doubt this will have much of an impact on traffic safety. Might be a nice, new source of pocket-money for the BiB, though.
