Areca Lodge Hotel question

DeadAndAlive

Recommended Posts

Progress as of this morning. The project directly in front of the entrance is going to be a beer garden, and the structure to the right is a regular bar. Both are scheduled to be completed within the next 10 days. The restaurant inside isn’t scheduled for completion until October.

These are, of course, Thai timetables, and who knows when they'll actually be complete. [emoji23][emoji23]

I stayed at Areca Lodge last weekend and can confirm that the construction didn't interfere with my trip in any way.  I didn't even hear it.  Nice hotel as always, so don't let the construction scare you away.

i am guessing it could turn out to be some sort of beer garden-ey kind of place.....and of course it should have a band to add to the cacophony that is soi diana

When I came to Pattaya in May they were advertising rooms for 1000 baht walk in rate.

I did not investigate further can anyone confirm.

I think that may have been the 'closet size rooms' about 10 sq m. in the back Evergreen building. I think they started out to be maid's room. No window with a bed.

And no balcony. You're right....they were maid’s rooms. But they decided to rent them out instead. The rooms don't have room numbers like all of the other rooms. They're identified by “R” and the floor. Like R4.

I might get flamed for my opinion but here goes, I used Areca for many trips and had no complaint whatsoever other than some BF's thought I was "rich man Mak Mak". Well I was earning good money and I usually was getting the high 50's FX.

As an undisciplined monger I got bored of the Gyms and pools because mongering became my priority just like making breakfast became a no go not just because of the am session but back a few years ago there were girls who did either not understand the "breakfast" concept or were embarrassed to sit in an hotel like a guest.

I always stayed in Evergreen although last stay (4 years ago) it was getting a little tired, there also was the change then of the  demographic, first was "the Russians" then "the families" . there is no doubt more disposable was spent by them than my occasional room service.

I understand from other posts that the true tourist theme may have changed and we all know the "russian invasion" has subsided (although in my ignorance I probably classed a lot of Eastern Europeans as Russians) my apologies to both.

I fortunately have found a "guesthouse" nearby and used since it opened which is less than half the price of Areca, I come to chill out (fat lazy old falang) and yet my BF's are usually impressed some that are not its a great indict to WBTYM.

Steve, thanks for the updates and yes the pace has slowed down.

Last week when there, the new restaurant just received the new furniture and looks very nice in there.

I was told earlier this week when checking out to return home, it will all be completely finish when I return early December.

I posted this on August 8, while staying at Areca Lodge. They expected it to be finished by August 18. They’re already 60 days late, on what seems to be a fairly simple build. This is Thailand. Gotta love it.

They have the LB volley tournament every year think its around 2500 Bath that includes dinner at the hotel after the tournament.

Last year they had to stop middle of the tournament because it was pouring down :D

Most likely a new Thai game:  Catch a Chang

People sitting at the downside of the slope can catch a free beer.

Great pics. In the background I noticed all of the steel being erected at Mike Shopping Mall. I believe I heard that they were adding a hotel to the building. Anyone know how high they’re going and what the finished project will be?

I just tried my trip dates and realised they do have vacancies (probably could not say that for Dec a couple of years back) but it is still twice the price I am paying now nearby in a room that is better than Areca (although it does not have a bath) and I do like a bath.
