French tourist complains to Thai police about Nazi Gear for sale in Pattaya

Pattaya-

Mr. Alexandre Jandaeng, 34, of French, spotted the previous photo at a roadside shop in Pattaya on his recent holiday and took pictures.

He states that he was very offended by this being sold in Pattaya and Thailand and that he feels it reflects badly on Pattaya. He went to the tourist police with the images and asked why they would permit these to be sold here.

The police responded in an official statement that although they understand the Nazi symbol and items are banned in many countries they are not against Thai law or banned in Thailand. However, they did say that counterfeit goods are against the law and subject to legal action. They did not state specifically if they would be looking into this individual shop where the photos were taken.

What do you think?

If the French tourists does not want Nazi gear they should not buy any Nazi gear.

Seems pretty simple to me.

Is there such a thing as a counterfeit swastika? It implies someone owns the trademark :)

In France its possible to sell NAZI collection produts, you just have to cover the NAZI mark

Some ppl make collection about it, without beeing a Nazi

In Pattaya I saw some ppl selling this on the little market behind the Central Mall

But not all was original , mostly fakes

Before we go bashing the Thai bashers, no one is sweeping this under the carpet. The Australian PM came out and condemned it, the commander ordered it taken down when he became aware of it, and the personnel involved were disciplined at the time. No one's making any excuses.

The flag on the vehicle is a storm in a teacup. It was in 2007. Those concerned were disciplined and the flag was quickly removed.
Big deal. However the mainstream news (especially the ABC here) loves this sort of thing.

For mongers that need a break from mongering, searching for replica nazi memorabilia is a exciting activity!

Presumably, his beef was that there was nowhere convenient to buy a rifle for him to throw away before running for England with his hands up.
