Chiangmai excursions

Starting next months trip with a short visit to Chiangmai.

Would like to do something worthwhile during my stay there & wouldn't mind some sort of sedentary one day Jungle trek. Maybe visit some waterfalls, spot of lunch & perhaps view a bit of wildlife.

Ive looked online at the likes of trip advisor but the prices seem a little excessive. Presumably I could get a better price when actually on the ground in Chiangmai?

Anyone got any advice, experience or recommendations?

 Cheers.

I did a cooking course and quad biking through some Jungle area.

Both really good. Quite a few years ago though.

Plans always seem to go astray when get to Thailand, but I would like to fit Chiangmai into schedule someday and would appreciate any insights into where to stay, general layout, prices, etc.  Always seems like tendency is to stick with what has worked best in past and not bother with hassle of learning a new place, but try to make myself do at least one new thing each trip.  The more comfortable you get with a place before you get there the easier it is to make this decision.

This is a great little guide to Chang Mai

http://www.chiangmai.bangkok.com/activities/mae-sa-valley.htm

I have started with the mae sa valley link as it is a place you can fit a lot of activities into one day elephants, tigers, butterfly/orchids, snakes, bungy jumps & much more. We had a hire car but there are heaps of public transport options.

Night safari is worth a visit, we did the train ride & the seperate big cat show was the highlight & if take your TG you will be popular. Well sign posted in english

Again if you have your own car there is a days worth of exploring to do in the park

We use http://www.popcarrent.com/en/rentals/cars/ on three road trips, up to12 bikes 1 backup car on each trip for 10 days & can highly recommend.

Wat Phrathat is the best temple close by. Fun switchback road to get there and you end up on top of Doi Suthep. Good views back down over Chiang Mai from there.

Maesa Elephant Camp was also fun with an entertaining elephant show.

I didn't explore much of the P4P scene in Chiang Mai. I hooked up with a sweetheart from Loi Kroh Rd the first night. I screwed her senseless for the next 3 days.
