Laptops, tablets, cells, etc at airports

It used to be that you had to put your smart devices in your carry-on with charged batteries.

Later they decided that you could not even bring your cell into the cabin.

Where do things stand now? Smarts checked in or in carry-on luggage ?

No offense but there is this web site called Google.com (among others) that will rapidly answer questions like that.

Not allowed to "bring your cell into the cabin"? Hmmm...

Last October at the EVA check in counter at Swampy I was told I couldn't have a laptop computer in a checked bag. So I had to dig the laptop out of the checked bag and put it in my carryon while at the counter. At the time I thought it may be for security or damage reasons but after reading about thefts from luggage at Swampy realized EVA didn't want to be responsible for the computer.

sometimes they req them to have enough charge to power up, to prove it is a device rather than something that goes boom

No airline on earth doesn’t let you take your cellphone onboard.

I don't know what airline you use, but the ones I travel on let me bring my cell phones (3ea), laptop, tablet and e-reader in my carry-on luggage. I can also use all of previous mentioned items while on the plane if they are on air-plane mode.

The only problem I every had was on China Eastern. I could bring all the items in carry-on bags, but couldn't use them.

Just like 'nzwolfgang' said, No airline that I know of prohibits you from bring a cell phone on board.

Well, everywhere except at the Jamnagar Airport in India.  Seems the Army guys that run this joint have a very poor grasp of all things English....  They specifically look to see if you are carrying normal AA or AAA type batteries, pull them out, and toss them in the bin...  I know its because they simply don't understand, but I will leave this to folks that have more time than good sense to try and explain this to this group of bumbling idiots.  I always carried double A batteries for my mouse as extras.  I seem to forget to take them out in Jamnagar a lot.  It irritates me because I bring fresh copper top DuraCell batteries bought back in the states and taped up to prevent discharge in my briefcase.  I live and earn a good living with my laptop and software, so I never want to be dependent on a battery without a back up.... Into checked luggage they go now if I can remember....

Thanks a lot for the links Cyberpro.

As for the ban of electronics in the cabin. I knew I was not imagining things. It was a Trump administration idea. But since no other country in the world followed the lead. It was very short lived.

    • For those that don't know, I did Friday meetings before many years ago,  I feel like we are missing a regular meeting for members,  I am aware guys meet at PA affiliated bars. But I want to start meeting people again, I'm inviting the guys following my YouTube also.

The meetings is a chance to get to meet each other,  I plan to be at every meeting, I also have Dean from Dive bar that has offered to help out with a crawl after.
The meetings will be  Monday  6 pm - 8 pm each week.  (The improvised bar crawl will commence at 8 p.m.  Dean will make his own plans for that.)

If bar owners want us to have a meeting at their bar,  they need to have a minimum of 10 girls.  I'm not dragging people to empty bars for favours.
Please help us invite other members, it takes a while to get momentum.
