Emirates Confirms Premium Economy Coming to the A380 in 2020

Featured Replies

That's what your ex did.

When they (Delta) starting to dump the 747's and exchanged them with Air Bus 350 (The Flagship Fleet) they added the "Premium" seats.

Now you have to use 2 Global Upgrades to go from economy to Business/First or 90,000 miles for the upgrade.

But sure beats the old (very old) Northwest 747's Delta acquired when they took over.

BTW the 350's Premium are an improvement over economy, but not worth the increase price.

It will still be basic economy for me

To be honest I think I'll be sticking with Emirates basic Economy BUT when these planes with Premium Economy seats go into service I'll take a look at the prices

It will be interesting what type of product  they come up with and what  market they are aiming for. I thought that business class load factors on the A380 were pretty good. Although you get plenty of personal space and very good ife in Business the seat width is only 18.5 inches which  is firmly in premium economy territory in my book. If the new premium economy seats are a similar width ( and it is difficult to imagine them being any narrower ) then it becomes difficult to justify paying around £2k for business class when premium economy is likely to be around £1k, especially if you can get lounge access via a FF programme or credit card
