It is still very good value

It had been 1,000 baht for a long time

Agree + 1 :D

i think they have all put the rates up following the jump in motorway tolls around april 19th to/from swampy from 60 bht E/W to 105 bht E/W

My other taxi company I use ( Mr Leak) put their prices up to 1,100 back in January.

I can live with this.

Considering a taxi journey of similar distance back home would cost 3-4 times that (possibly more) its peanuts!

I recently booked with Mr. T as well. I tried to get the grandfathered 1,000 bht price that I got last time but he was firm on the 1,100 bht. Did a bit of shopping around and it seems everyone has went up  on their prices because of the increased toll tax. But like the others said you still can’t beat the price for an hour and a half taxi ride.

If only he picked you up in a van with red stripes. I SO wanted one of those when I grew up.

10 Reasons I cant be arsed -

That is fantastic value. It's double the price from Manila airport to Angeles which is actually a shorter journey 99km v 122km.

You crazy fool!

I stopped using them after 4 times. Since all those 4 times i had a driver that thought he was Michael Schumacher. Still a good price at 1100 to be fair.

:laugh:Mr T and others have been in the game a long time, i`d reckon he`ll be aware that compared to other places his fares are cheap!

Aye it's about the same as a 10 mile each way round trip here.

Everyone has raised their prices due to tolls. Much to do about nothing.

Not entirely correct....
Nam put her prices up, then reconsidered, and brought them back down to what they were before. admittedly, 1200 for the airport trip, a bit more then the others, but the gap is now down to half of what it was.
Safe lady drivers, and reliable service by a Pattaya based driver, who will know where your hotel is.

He's able to keep those lower prices because he has enough business to allow his drivers to have customers going both directions.

inflation is a cruel bitch... I was taking Mr T 12 years ago at 1000 baht, gogo barfines were 400-500 no matter how long, to the girl short time gogo 1000..long time 1500... what is Mr T doing... raising his rates 100 baht... I would boycott him for sure.... :Hair_Out1:

yes and  now 1400 from Don Muang...

I'm using Bell Bus, from recommendations from others on the forum.  I'm sure it's not as fast as an actual taxi (you have to wait for everyone to be dropped off at their hotel), but it literally costs me $9.75 CDN.  (240 B, from BKK airport).  In Canada, a $90 bus fare would be equivalent, then you'd still need a taxi to be taken to your hotel.

This is damn cheap.  So is 1100b, but I'm thinking the Bus was the easiest option for me, seeing as I'm going to use them again to go back to Bangkok city, for 5 days.

When I go to the Dominican republic I pay from Puerto plata to Sosua $20 USD for a 15 minute ride into town, I think that $1100 Baht is cheap for the 120Km you have to travel.

Good to see that she realised her prices were too high compared to other companies that offer the same service as her and adjusted her prices.... good business sense.

cheers

I like Bell Bus, not because of their lower price but because I like a lot of metal around me when traveling in LOS which is ranked #2 in the world in traffic deaths.

But when buses crash it’s usually a big one with multiple fatalities I’d rather pay extra and tell the driver to slow down and be safe.

From Suvarnabhumi airport BellBus takes about 90 minutes to Pattaya bus station. There you switch to one of several minibuses to go to your hotel. How long it takes depends on where your hotel is. So average up to two hours total. Hint, check with your own eyes that your suitcase goes into your minibus; once mine went into a different one, took more than two hours to get it back and on my way.

Going back to BKK city, you may find the traffic very, very slow as you get further in. If you have hand baggage only, you can follow the example of many Thais: get out at a SkyTrain station (bus stops there) and continue by fast train. http://transitbangkok.com/ has SkyTrain map so check the possibility.

At Ekkamai bus station in BKK, taxi drivers ask costly fixed fare to take you to your hotel. Half price or less to stop a taxi in the street and go on the meter.
