Chiang Mai - Looking for Hotel Recommendation

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I've stayed in Chiang Mai before, but at the Montha Hotel.   Decent place, low price, and nice and clean.
I want to stay somewhere else in the same area, but not sure where to go.

Basically, I want something nice, on or just off Loi Kroh, but not too pricey, girl friendly, and MUST have a balcony.

I know  that Raming Lodge seems to be the most popular, but I'm not 100% sure that the rooms have balcony's, or if only some have balcony's which ones those are.  Can anybody confirm?

Also any other recommendations would be appreciated

thanks!

May I suggest you move it to the appropriate section

You can lead a horticulture but you can't teach a prototype

OP - I'm going to Chiang Mai this weekend. Will post a hotel review when I get back.

Rooms I have stayed at in Raming Lodge have had no balcony at the back of the room. The entry to the rooms is a sort of huge balcony where prople come out to smoke.

I can recommend Riverside House.  Very helpful staff like the Montha but the rooms are a little nicer and there's a small pool.  The downside is that it's a slightly longer walk to Loi Kroh.  There's also a very "local" market and temple behind the hotel, with nary a tourist.

Wangburapa and Maninarakorn also emailed me back to confirm they don't charge a joiner fee, but I have tried them yet.

My last trip in May i stayed at the Nap hotel.

It is a little boutique hotel on Loh Kroh

It is a newer place and was pretty nice

Not all of the rooms have a balcony but you can get a room with one.

Interesting that the beds are close to the floor which I thought might be an issue but it ended up not being one and mine was super comfortable.

A/C and wifi worked very well

The shower did take a little bit to figure out proper regulation of the hot water though but once you did it was ok.

Totally guest friendly and a pretty good location.

There is a 7-11 underneath the hotel which is nice to.

I would stay there again for sure.

Thanks all.

I actually just ended up booking a condo I found on airbnb. Pretty nice place just off loi kroh near the night market.

Will definitely stay there again.

Just returned to Melbourne from Thailand inc one week at Raming Lodge. It is now becoming rather dated; bed was certainly firm, but that is OK for me: aircon was hard to set right; light switches were everywhere and hard to sort out. Next time I think I will look elsewhere.

Dropped into IMM hotel nearby at Thapae Gateand was impressed. Street entrance is quite small but go in and the hotel is big, modern. Check via Agoda or www.immhotel.com. It is on my list for next visit.

Other side of the moat is Top North Hotel; do not confuse with Top North Guesthouse. The best rooms in new wing are modern; the others are very dated.

The other end of Loi Kroh Road, check Suriwongse about 2100 THB inc breakfast and Duangtawan 1600 - 2000.

As for balconies, you will need to check web for more details.

Prices I have are current low season. High season will be more, I expect.
