Guest houses - Soi Beaukhow ?

Featured Replies

I've been to Pattaya many times but always stayed in hotels.

The last 3 or 4 trips I have stayed Opey de Place (Soi Lengkee) and always been happy.

Iv'e been around the area for years and I know what I'm doing so I really don't need the 24 hr reception with security etc. (Last trip I didn't even use the pool once).

So, around that area I'm looking for a guest house with great rooms (that are better than opey de place or similar hotels). I think Opey was about 1050 THB a night high season when I last stayed. I recon I can get better accommodation at a lower price going down this route. Soi Beaukhow - LK metro area preferred. Just one other thing (I'm a daytime sleeper), I don't want the room cleaned before 3 p.m, 555.

Suggestions please?

Not dropping down much in price but rocketing up in room quality would be Baku guesthouse...

No idea about time of room cleaning.

Just make sure you don't "book" it on hotels.com - according to Baku they have no affiliation and wouldn't honour my booking a couple of weeks back (they managed to squeezxe me in 2 out of 4 nights I had already paid for but I had to pay them cash).

Very good rooms for only 600 Baht a night, Soi Lengkee close to Opey, booked online www.chinagardenpattaya.com  or [email protected]

Guests enjoy 10% discount at Smokin' Joe's BBQ (now open for breakfast) & Steak & Co.

Separate Entrance, No joiner fee's even for 2 over night guests, large safe's in each room, large flat panel TV's (all 55cm SMART TV above Smokin Joe's), Fibre internet, cleaned daily, 24 hour reception.

3 x Jacuzzi Rooms, 1 Bedroom suite with sofa bed in living room from 1,000 Baht per night

It's always a gamble on that soi that seems to be forever in renovations and howling bikes with no exhaust.

Always best to book 2 nights and revise

Soi Lengkee being in the heart of town 5 minutes on foot from LK Metro entertainment area, 5-10 from beach road is always going to be a busy area for motorbikes however it's no different to anywhere on Soi Baukaw, mostly by 21.00 pm the traffic has subsided, there are probably 20 guesthouses and 3-4 hotels on the street (Opey, Sutas, Nikon Court). I guess if your a light sleeper then a 'garden resort' out of the way may be better suited but anyone who enjoy's being within walking distance of LK Metro, beach road, dozens of bar & restaurants / massage places then Soi Lengkee or the central Baukaw area is a good choice.   Renovations happen anywhere at anytime but never anything major ... unlike for example the complete demolition going on at the end of Soi Diana currently.

Soi Baukaw is one of those places you love or hate, personally I live in the area and enjoy the convenience of everything on my doorstep.

I actually meant the whole of soi bukaho.

The guest houses are all being upgraded

Soi bukaho is dirt cheap and there is reason for that. Why would you think we are all light sleepers?
Strange comment

Soi bukaho is primarily targeting cheap Charlie's and you can see the quality of tourist there. Putting up with the noise goes with the price. Most have no choice light or heavy sleepers..

The same could be said about many part of Pattaya but as the city continues to grow the rents in the center increase and businesses such as hotels / guesthouses either improve or find themselves replaced.  We already see the  new Holiday Inn Express is being build on Baukaw , Centara Avenue on Bakauw Soi 15, Travelodge on Buakaw 15, Vogue hotel on Lengkee, the new LK Presidential at the top of Lengkee.... Granted these are not Conrad's, Hilton's or Marriott's but the Baukaw area is improving pretty rapidly. People come to this area primarily for the nightlife, access to western food and central location, I wouldn't agree prices are dirty cheap because of the area, they are representative of prices you pay anywhere in Thailand outside of CBD Bangkok.

The maid finishes at 17.00 pm but lives on-site so I guess a little later wouldn't be a problem, we have two room maids but only one lives in.

I stayed at Baku guest house in March, very impressed by the rooms at only 1000 baht, think they have a promotion in May -  July at only 900 baht. When you want your room cleaned you change a notice downstairs so they won't disturb you if you are still sleeping at 3pm.

Will be staying there again on my next trip, I booked via the website, they prefer that way as they don't have to pay the 17% commission to Booking.com etc that way.

I've also stayed at Baku and the room was very nice and modern considering the price. They also do a decent english breakfast in their café. If your budget is around 1k baht it's a great choice, if you could go a bit up then I would recommend D-Hotel (1200-1300), which also has great reviews on this forum. Main upsides are elevator (the stairs at Baku are super narrow for the ladies that wear long heels) and pool.

Sounds like you may like to check out the Baku Guesthouse thread, we are a stone throw away from LK Metro and yet in a quiet ski so you can get a good night sleep. We finishes our cleaning at 4pm daily. Thank you

If you need more feedback, please do check our listing and reviews on booking.com and you will get a pretty good idea.

  • 4 weeks later...

The Captains Bar and Guesthouse on Soi Honey is a very welcoming place and not expensive.

I have stayed before for two months and will be staying again starting from tomorrow for six weeks.  Just around the corner from LK metro
