...   The B-B-Q`s that I like best are on the ring road and I can not tell you any names as they are all in Thai.  Some have live prawns included so you know they are fresh!   I love seafood so I tend to like to go to these as there is usually a very good selection plus loads of other meats etc.

If you were to look at Google Maps, the name of that place is "APA Grilled Shrimp" on Google.

Here is the map link for it.  https://goo.gl/maps/WWuTm6HsKpL2

I should probably mention that even though the topic is Khon Kaen, the Thai BBQ being referenced is in Udon Thani. :-)

I spend most of my time around the university area when there and it was more laid back I would recommend checking out that area.

Always a treat to visit the Cafe Amazon with-in the University to bird watch :)

Went for a short trip to Khon Kaen and surrounding areas, had a great time there and would certainly go back again.

Going up to the Khon Kaen area with the GF again for a few days at Xmas time. We are staying at the Pullman for two nights and have requested a room on a high floor on the side away from the late night bar noise. Obviously given the circumstances, I will not be hitting the bars looking for company. Anybody, have a restaurant recommendation for the area?

After that we are going to visit her family for two nights in a small town about 35 kms away. We will be driving back and will possibly spend a little time in Korat on the way back.

If you are in the Korat neighborhood, and have not been before, I'd recommend Phimai. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phimai_Historical_Park

I'll second Phimai. Well worth checking out imo. I went to the boat race festival there one year and had such a good time, I went again a couple of years later. In addition to the boat races during the day, they do a nice sound and light show with dancers, etc. at the temple in the evening.

Thanks for the tip, but it looks like our time in Korat will be limited and taken up with visiting family members and avoiding some others. :)

Looks like we are going up to Udon for a day trip as well. More family stuff. Me, this is the first time I will see a little of Udon or Korat and I am looking forward to those small pleasures.
