A 22 year old Russian man, Mr. Aleksandr Zakharov, and his passenger and gilfriend, Miss Netnapa Prawatdee, in her early 20’s, were killed when his Kawasaki Z900 motorcycle they were riding at high speed hit and killed a South Korean man, Mr. Yongseok Choi, 20, who was crossing the road in front of Soi Pattaya 7 in Tambon Nongplue of Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district at 12.10am.

Multiple witnesses report that Mr. Zakharov was riding at high speed and both he and his passenger were not wearing motorcycle helmets as required by Thai law. Mr. Zakharov’s motorbike hit one of a group of tourists who were attempting to cross the road at the time of the accident. It is not known at this time if any substances, such as alcoholic beverages or drugs were in Mr. Zakharov’s system at the time of the accident.

Authorities have informed the families of the victims and further arrangements will be made. We here at The Pattaya News mourn all the victims and highly support and encourage everyone to follow the speed limit and wear a motorcycle helmet.

May they rest in peace.
