The only issue is that the lift is away from the reception towards the other end of the corridor.

Is there any steps towards the lift from reception and is there any steps in any floors to the rooms

No steps from the reception to the lifts and as far I can recall there are no steps in any floor leading to the rooms.

It's all flat. I'm checking out today with bags so I'll be using the lift. I stopped using it because it's a sauna inside and my room is closer to the stairs which is closer to the exit.

Thanks for that, I have a mobility scooter standard size and most hotels lifts in Thailand are too small in size and my mobility scooter is a big issue. That's why some people say size does matter, lol

Just noticed there's a 4" step to get into the room and that Lift is small. I can't see an accessibility scooter getting in there unless they have a back of house, freight elevator (like my workplace does back home).

Sorry, had to take a 2nd look at everything.

Does anyone know if smoking is allowed on balconies and outside the pool access rooms?

Was going to email them and ask but cant find an email address for them.

You can smoke inside the rooms, there is ashtray inside the room.

I stayed in Maytara twice in 2018, on the ground floor.

Here is my opinion.

The +:

- Perfectly located on the second road
- Direct access to the swimming pool (rooms on the ground floor)
- Very comfortable bed
- Relatively large and comfortable rooms. The bathroom is nice.
- There is a massage parlour in the hotel that is good (no sex)
- The people at the reception are completely indifferent to your guests (this is not the case everywhere)
- The cleaning staff is friendly and helpful

The -
- Sometimes a little noisy (ground floor, swimming pool). I do not recommend the rooms on the ground floor for people who want to be quiet
- The pool is quite small and not very sunny during the day
- Small safe in the room: impossible to put a laptop in it
- Wifi is catastrophic: it has almost never worked. The hotel staff seems to care nothing about it!
- Rooms with direct access to the pool are relatively expensive and not very available
- I didn't see a security guard in this hotel or he's hiding: -)

I'm not going back there right now, but it's a one-time thing to try.

Thanks mate. Appreciate the info. I don’t smoke in the room normally but I like to sit outside in the evening and have a relaxing beer and cigar. Will hopefully be doing that by the pool in a few weeks time.

Well how was it?

I just booked a pool access room for january.

Maytara had some nice discounts in Agoda, 800b for normal rooms and 1000b for pool access.

I actually really enjoyed it. Pool access rooms were large and well appointed. Staff friendly and efficient. Restaurant out front is open 24hrs and food is well priced and good quality. Location is handy for everything. Will definatly be back when the world goes back to normal.

Madness at this time + hotels need the business !

At this time I would not stay in a hotel that charges a joiner's fee

Did they enforce it or was it just the note at the desk? Also did he reserve for one or two?

I booked for Xmas period and read some of the old news about joiner fees so thought I should check direct with the hotel.  Here is the response;

No, there isn't.

I want to comment on the grammar used.  I know it's a short message but for a Thai it's bloody good. Comma in the right place, 'there' spelt correct (something I often get wrong) and apostrophe.

Read reports on shit WiFi.  Which rooms have OK WiFi?
