I know I seen mention of this restaurant/bar/guesthouse here, but good luck finding the thread if it even exists....

Anyway... went to visit my friend this morning. He eats here often and loves it. When he told me the owner/chef makes the Hollandaise to order, I was sold.

I took a moto-taxi from VT6 to Soi 8 Jomtien. My thrill for this trip  , he was pretty civil , I told him go slow, I scare.  No traffic before 09:00

Had the Eggs Benedict, 250B...really good.... toasted English Muffin , sliced quality ham and a healthy portion of that, perfectly poached eggs, and a very nice freshly made Hollandaise sauce.  Served with home fried potatoes.

Lots of nice homemade comfort food on the menu.

Here is the website;       http://richmanpoorman.net/

A few people have recommended this place on different threads - especially breakfast threads.

I’ve not got around to trying it yet. I’ll have to make the effort next trip.

Thought it was on Soi 9?

Yes, Soi 9. Close to the beach road. They have a nice bacon and eggs, (optional brown) toast breakfast. Good coffee. Not great, IMO, but good.

Also, a very nice atmosphere. I think most if not all of the staff is family of Eddie, the owner.

Yes this place serves a great breakfast.

And for the Americans among us, Morning TV features American Football and other American sports. And a heck of a Super Bowl Party there also. (Yes I know, if you’re not an American it’s probably a very boring game)  Owner Eddie is from New York.

Oh ! And I forgot to mention, Eddie also does another American tradition, Thanksgiving dinners. With that holiday next month, this is a timely moment to mention this. Both the Thanksgiving dinner and the Super Bowl Party require pre-reservations. For the super bowl party, he sets up a big screen outside and many tables in the street, because the crowd is so large.

i got a three thanksgiving meals “to go” one year and I shared them with a couple of Thai girls. Needless to say it was “Mai aloi”” to them !! BUT if you’re American, you’ll love it. (Was a stupid idea, I know, but I was new to Thailand then and I just had to try it.)

I stayed here for a week and can say that all the good write ups here are accurate, and the accomodation was great as well , Eddie made us very welcome and was a great source of info.

I have read and heard a lot of complimentary things about RMPM. I have seen a few pics in various threads here on PA and the food looks good. I would say think higher quality American Diner. The problem I have is that I am in calorie counter mode and have been for a year now. I am having some success and have gone from 205 to 179 lbs. My target is 170. From what I have seen of RMPM food, it does not fit into my calorie counter model. btw - I am feeling a lot better, since my little brother started moving out. :)

I've eaten there twice and while it's ok, I've not been back. I may try again for the eggs Benedict. The other things I've had (specials they put on) have been quite average.

My understanding is that the hollandaise there is from a Knorr mix. It could still be good but it would have that limitation.

The hollandaise looks terrible.

Obviously a canned /package product.

Then they don't have a fucking clue what they're doing.

I am 99% sure that is packaged and if it's not,it's terrible example of that sauce.

Ask them yourself. I haven't ordered it. Just heard from a credible source it was a mix and they are not hiding it.

And that's fine,Hollandaise  doesn't do well in the heat,so it makes sense that if you're only selling 10-12 Benny's a day,in a hot kitchen,make as needed.

TGC use pre mix, they sell a couple of Benny's a day ,too expensive to make fresh everytimeevery time

I have made Hollandaise from scratch , using a Hobart 20 quart mixer, using a blender, and also have used the institutional version of Knorr mix.

If you modify the mix and add a little lemon juice and cayenne it is pretty darn good.

You are judging the sauce based on my photo...I ate it. Whether he uses a mix or not , it was pretty darnn good with a nice texture and flavor...

I stopped ordering Eggs Benny a long time ago because they are usually crap , once got them topped with canned cheese sauce...akkkkk

Putting Sterno ( canned heat fuel ) under it.... We did a lot of crazy shit in the big kitchens over the years.

Good luck with your diet plan, I would guess my breakfast yesterday had enough calories to suffice the average person four days.  Not something I eat every day.

I watched Eddie for a bit...a really tiny kitchen and work space. He is truly old school , and a talented  chef.  He was prepping an apple bread stuffing for a daily special, from what I saw, pretty much how I would have made it .

I understand that good food takes quality time, effort and ingredients, however paying Singapore prices for a Jomtien breakfast just isn't going to capture me as a regular patron.  Okay once, but I go to Thailand for value, not to replicate home country cost...

I have no idea what Singapore prices are, but 250B for a good Eggs Benny is about US$7.50 and aside from an IHOP where it would be served with Cheese Wiz on top instead of Hollandaise, restaurants will charge $12-$15 .
