Best Long Term Accommodations

Hello, there is a chance in 2018 I will be able to spend several months away from work. I’d like to spend as much of that time in Thailand and wanted to inquire as to the best place to stay all things considered. Price being a big one but also cleanliness, pest rodent free (or very minimal), location, good wifi, air con, and other amenities.

I follow a few people on YouTube who live in Pattaya and one guy spends 3500 Baht per month for a fan only room plus a small amount on utilities but the place looks run down inside and out and it is in a noisy location. So I’m wondering if I spent double what this guy is spending so 7000 Baht monthly can a get something really nice? Anyone with experience renting longer terms please help me out. I would like to get the most bang for my buck so if theres a place with an excellent newer room with a gym etc etc I’d be willing to go higher within reason.

Give me you suggestions.

A lot depends on location and if you’d have your own transport.

From what I remember, you stayed just off Soi Buakhao last trip and you don’t drink alcohol??

You’ll get cheaper places away from the centre, (beyond 3rd Road or Jomtien.) You’d really need your own transport though. Would you rent/ride a scooter?

Nirun Condo is pretty cheap and there are plenty of condos in Jomtien now for under 10k a month eg Laguna behind Rhompo, and others, for about 7k or less.

If you want central then you’re probably better off looking for a long term deal in a guesthouse and join a gym somewhere & pay when you want a pool.

If you want to use baht buses, you will get a condo near the route in Jomtien for 9/10k, maybe less. Half an hour on a baht bus to Central Pattaya.

Don’t think you’ll get a condo in Central Pattaya for anything near that.

Personally, if I was staying that long I’d want a decent sized condo with a kitchen and a pool to relax in the afternoon. Decent internet and cable TV as well. If budget constrains then a large guesthouse room with kitchen would do.

Yup, that’s me! I stayed at D-Hotel on Soi Buakhao and I do drink but not daily and when I do it’s not much. I think Jomtien maybe a good idea. I didn’t get the chance to visit on my trip to Pattaya but from my understanding it’s more laid back, cheaper, and quieter when it comes time to sleep. I’ll do some searching online for a room.

Forgot to mention I have no plans of driving while in Thailand so I’ll be using baht bus and motorbike taxis

VT1 about the cheapest in Jomtien that’s on the baht bus route.

VT2 is better and has some good deals though. Very good pool, no gym. I’ve seen 9k a month for 12 month contracts so you may get that for 8 months.

Jomtien certainly quieter. I stay there each trip now. Can be a bit of a drag getting to and from Pattaya if you’re doing it twice or more a day. Traffic got much worse, especially in high season. Plenty of bars though mainly slightly older ladies.

I did this thread when I first stayed in Jomtien and I’ve updated it a little since:

As you don’t know Jomtien, you’d be better off trying it before committing to a long-term contract. Stay a week, or a month at max, to see if it will suit you. Some people find the journey to & from Pattaya too much of a hassle. It is quite a trek to Soi 6.

It depends where you think you’ll spend most of your time.

At some point you’ll need to think about visas as well. Max 90 days on a Tourist Visa (60 + 30 extension). You’d then have to leave Thailand for long enough to get another visa in a nearby country. Costs soon add up. You could get the METV but it’s still a max 90 days each visit. Your trips out of the country could then be shorter. If you time it right, I think you should be able to get your 8 months out of the visa. Still means 2 trips out of Thailand though.
