Got the baht bus on Friday night into jomtien, we normally stay in jomtien for a couple of weeks but this time we have been staying in Pattaya.  I had seen one of Kev's video's recently which gave the impression that jomtien was quite, but seeing it for real was very shocking. Walking along the beach front from the corner at he start of the prom until soi Whitehouse , it was totally dead and this was at 9pm at night, even the surf kitchen was empty.. decided just to head back to Pattaya but had to wait a good 10 minutes for a baht bus to stop. Such a shame .it's a nice resort

Maybe the Russians have finally given up along with paying maintenance

In fairness Jomtien was never very busy. It was quiet 11 years ago when i used to visit. The Russian issue did make it busiER but even then I would never describe it as busy.

If anyone wants to rent me a decent furnished condo in 'Ghost town' Jomtien with a pool for 6k or less a month for 3 months starting next Tuesday (3rd October) let me know. Not Majestic pls. Must be close to Baht bus route or have a shuttle to Jomtien where I can get the Baht bus. The 6k must include cable/internet which should be connected. If I like it I will rent longer term.

You can get low monthly rent in Pattaya but you usually have to look hard for it. Perhaps he is dreaming in Jomtien with pool etc

Feeling quite optimistic today, eh ?

not impossible...Jomtien is so quiet. Its a renters market surely?

The small studios in Laguna Beach 2 can be had for not much more than that - not on baht bus route though.

You need to up it to 8/9k to be realistic. More likely if you commit long term than month by month. Not certain to have decent internet included either.

Russians back eating & drinking in condo by then.

Certainly can be quiet though. Beach Rd rarely that busy late evening - maybe the market is. Second Rd usually very quiet.

Sois vary.

I'm puzzled mate.

You've got a fair few threads on the go asking about prices etc...... Almost as if you're a newbie.

But you yourself were a real estate agent selling and renting from VT2 not so long ago. Yes?

The quietness of Jomtien, is THE major attraction for me.  That is where I will be living in approx 1 month.  Having said that, even in high season, Beach road is quiet when compared to it's big sister over the hill... No shock there. Come high season and holiday weekends, the place is jammed. Traffic is fucked and the restaurants are pretty full. But that is only the couple of months of high season and long weekends. There are many Thais who venture to Jomtien during those periods.

Last High season when the Jet Ski Championships were on, the place was a nightmare. Don't be fooled, Jomtien can get very very busy.. Thankfully only for a couple of months per year...

Johnfb46: You will have to look long and hard to find a 'decent' place (With a swimming pool AND Internet included.).  I have lived here since 2011 and have rarely seen a place as you describe in your requirements for that low of a monthly price - especially for only three months.  You might find a small place around that price if you rented on a yearly lease.  Perhaps one of your Real Estate contacts from times gone by can be of service.

if you think you can rent a condo at the beach with a pool for 6K, I can see why you failed

dont believe that jomtien is a ghost town, nor Walking Street....... all bull put up my doom and gloomers

I was offered already a small condo with a pool for 6500 in Jomtien. They are out there and yes you must look. I was actually offered two but the other condo was a little bit further out from the beach.

Thank you everyone for your comments and ideas.

I took over this thread rather + should not have done so. My apologies to 'malct' who started this thread. Back to his point about Jomtien being a ghost town. There are many condos unoccupied certainly, my friends in Jomtien on the ground say the bars and restaurants are very quiet. I am not there so cannot confirm this. I love Jomtien and am quite happy that it is quiet and less busy when I am there. The busiest place in Jomtien? .... without question Jomtien Immigration!
