im booked to go back soon,  i stupidly booked the irish rovers for my first night for around  800 baht ,  now the price is ok but on hindsight i think it may be too noisy there.

last year i stayed at eastinny inn on soi 7, i loved the room , it was immaculate  for 700 a night but noise was terrible untill 4-5am every night.

now im looking somewhere with a nice clean room, a kettle in room with tea & coffee. a clean swimming pool.  friendly staff.

ive stayed at most places ...i dont mind paying from 700 - 1500 a night .

any advice ?

How about D Hotel? I just stayed there and it is probably the best place I've stayed in in Patts. Updated review at the end of this thread...

D HOTEL   i agree its a great place though i like to try different places, i stayed at the D HOTEL last trip but it was the older hotel next door but still great , i think it was about 1100 a night .  the thing i liked about it was very friendly receptionists & staff  which to me makes all the difference.

i like a place which gives a free breakfast , not the usual slop.  maybe they give breakfast also to lady friend  , i had the NANA HOTEL last trip for 1200 a night and we both got a decent breakfast  but of course that was in BKK.

i do not even mind staying in naklua or jomtien for a night here and there, i like to move about.

Couple of things

1. I would say its "impossible" to answer your question to be honest. Here is a precis of a REAL conversation I saw on Facebook the other day whcih sums it up.

OP - Whats the best hotel in Pattaya
Member 1 - The XYZ hotel is the best hotel in Pattaya by far
Member 2 to Member 1 - how many hotels have you stayed in Pattaya
Member 1 - only that one

That convo is REAL but it sums up the argument. You will get 100 different answers from 100 different members here. Unless anyone has stayed at all 1500 hotels here they will, by human nature, recommend one they stayed in.

2. Why was it "stupid" to book the Irish Rovers? As guesthouses go its a good one.

Given your price range i could recommend hundreds (although not at the 700 bottom price with pool) but I suggest you look on Agoda for the Flash Deals. As always with Agoda you need to constantly check back for "deals" as the prices can vary wildly day to day, even hour to hour.

For a "quiet" place with a good pool I would recommend August Suites but if you are coming October-Feb you wont get that at 1500. Remember October 1st a lot of hotel prices jump.

Baku guest house.

This is the best place in pattaya for the price easily at the moment not sure once the word gets out how much it will go up to and for high season. My friends stayed at 900 a night the rooms 38sqm big tv. sorry no pool. here is a thread link on it.

Ask a silly question and i'll leave a silly answer

Would have been easier if you googled it yourself.

OP - Good subject for discussion, but maybe Mods could move to 'Hotel and Guest house' section.

I have stayed in over 40 hotels or G/H in the last 5 years and I have a few suggestions. From your post I presume:

a) your going back soon (so presumably still low season)

b) you want to stay around LK Metro

c) you are happy to pay up to 1,500THB pn.

Here are a few suggestions that might fit the bill.

Guest houses:

Boomerang (soi 15 Buhakow). Outstanding quality and location. 500-1,000THB

The Haven - (soi Lenkee) Classy, friendly, nice rooms and great food (600-900THB)

Hotels

Travelodge (right behind Avenue mall), I stayed there 2 weeks ago, modern and classy with rooftop pool (1,000-1,200THB)

Centra Avenue (nr soi Diana) I'm booked into this classy and ultra modern hotel next week; good rooftop pool, (1,100THB)

24/7 - (soi Honey) great location, nice breakfasts, lovely pool, top rooms (1,200THB)

Centara Azure - (soi 15 Buhakow) really upmarket, modern rooms, nice big resort pool (1,500THB)

I have stayed in all these hotels within the last 18 months, they are all guest friendly, clean and offer good customer service. They all get the Lottellee Winna seal of approval.

Hope the above info helps.

I stayed in April suites and it was good. Nice room, helpful staff, well priced, decent food, quietly located but only a few minutes from bars etc.. Pool was out of commission but other than that it was ideal really.

As has been mentioned Baku is getting some good reviews although it is very much a guesthouse not a "hotel" as per your title - then again so is Irish Rovers so if you can cope without a pool its well worth looking at. The Soi it is on is very quiet but its very easy walk to Soi Buakhao and just a couple of minuites walk from LK Metro.

I stay at stayed at d express last time and will find out if d apartment is just as good this time. D apartment is close to the main street so I bakhouw which is better. April suites I have been staying there aswell. Did find it good aswell but if you are spending much time around so I bakhouw or ok metro is a bit further away. Shame that the shagable pool girl has left April suites ;-)

I would cancel this on if you can. Yes it is ultra modern but the rooms are really tiny. it is also geared for jewish guests.with a synagogue and jewish restaurant no pork or milk on site.and there are also a lot of chinese and indian tour groups that go through.

My friend stayed here as i live in the condos attached at the back but you can use our 70 meter pool now you know to look for it.

May be read some trip advisor reviews.

Thanks for the heads-up, but I know this hotel very well. This will be my fourth visit. The hotel does focus on Israeli tourists and yes, does have a synagogue, no big deal for me. I have met groups of lads from the Israeli military doing a spot of R&R...nice respectful and fun young guys.

I have never seen any Chinese/Indian tour groups on my visits (as you know there is no room for tour buses up either of the entrance alleyways). Other guests have been fellow Euro/Aussie  single guys and some Korean couples.

Yes, the rooms are small and if I were booking for more than 1 week, I would look for an apart-hotel (eg Amari Nova Suites), but for a single dude for a short period, the rooms are great.

The hotel has a brilliant location (off Buhakow/Diana), the rooms are ultra-modern and sparkling clean. Given its location, right in the heart of the action, I just can't believe how quiet it is.

I have also stayed several times at the hotel part of your apartments, and this is also a fine hotel. While I enjoy the Avenues fine roof-top pool, I will also use the Azures pool - nice place to sit and enjoy the 5 beers in a bucket.

I will do another hotel review after my trip, but as I stayed here as late as 6 months ago, I have no worries. At 1,000thb it's a steal:D

You must have got lucky on your stays. there is a large car park for many busses on soi 15 in front of the bieng built centara grand.every time i use the gym there is a few indians in their undies swimming.cant seem to get over that one.

Soi 15 has no access whatsoever to Centra Avenue...so no idea how the Chinese/Indian tour groups you say frequent the hotel would get from the bus to their hotel. Incidentally, the latest TripAdviser review specifically mentions the lack of tour groups.

Never seen a single Indian, in the hotel or pool never mind a tour group.

Shocked by a few Indians swimming? You must have led a sheltered life :P

i live here you can walk through from centara azure to centra hotel via the pool the porters are always talking bags via the pool on trolleys.you yourself said you used the centara azure and condos pool. There is 2 tour groups busses ATM unloading i can go down and take a photo if you want with the time and date.

There's are 4 access points plus underground car parks in building A and B Where busses can unload luggage via the basement.

I and other owners using the gym and  pool dont enjoy watching them they way they touch each other in their undies with the old boy nearly falling out of the hole in the old style wide frount undies.chanting loudly in large groups in the condos pool as well.

As you say, I must have been extremely lucky on the 3 occasions I have stayed there. Hey maybe those tour buses are actually unloading for Centara Azure...if so, avert your eyes when passing the pool.

ps another plus for the Centra Avenue is that it has a gym..unlike its neighbor :D
