This is actually a great question. I buy those throw away e-cigs they sell in liquor stores in the USA. Do 7/11' s in Pattaya sell e-cigarettes?

Sorry to hijak your thread if your talking about a vaping machine, but was hoping to piggy back since they are similar

I'm a vaper....  not worth the hassle mate.

I have a couple of rigs Mrs Dave is holding for me, but I will only use them at home. Sadly, for this nic dependant bastard, it is ciggies for me when I am out and about.

The risk whilst low, IMHO, is very real... I guess you could try breaking down a mod, and scattering it between carry on and hold luggage, but you can find hardware at some of the markets.. It is a PITA, but sadly, it is what it is, and that is it would be foolish to vape in public, even if you see others doing it, because you never know when a cop may be on the make for a few thousand easy baht.. And you don't just have the Boys in Brown to worry about, there are plenty of plain clothes cops getting around as well.

I remember that growing up, my little sister had a golliwog doll, she loved that doll.

She's now 60 years old and has never been racialist in any way shape or form,

but, big brother says . illegal ....

I just returned from Pattaya and I vape.  Yes, e-cig equipment is illegal in Thailand and if caught in possession of vaping equipment, you could face fines upwards of 20,000 baht or more and possibly a few hour detour to Soi9 police station.  I haven't heard of anyone being arrested and awaiting trial yet.  That said, I had zero problems using my rig in my hotel room, inside agogos and inside a few bars on Soi6.  I did not visit any open air beer bars.  I did see a few other falang, Japanese/Koreans and Thai using their vape when out and about, but always behind closed doors.

I don't advocate breaking the law.  However, if you must bring your vape, my advice:  When entering/exiting the country, break down your rig.  Do not be obvious about it.  Do not have your rig out and on display or using it when on the street.  If caught, feign ignorance and plead for mercy.  Do not argue or get upset with the police officer.  You might get lucky and they'll let you off with a warning and an on-the-spot "fine".

The hassle may not be worth it to some, but because I abhor smoking cigs so much, I took the chance for 2 weeks and wasn't caught.  But that doesn't mean you won't be caught.  Be very cautious and aware of your surroundings and you might be okay.

Damn, that's a habit right there. I smoked 2 packs of cigarettes for years and quit cold turkey without an issue. Picked up an ecig a few years later just for fun. Given the risks, even tho it's been 5 years without one, id just go back to smoking regular cigarettes for 2 weeks If I wanted a smoke that bad.

Seems the tobacco companies have won the day here for now. It is what it is. I know a bargirl who got caught vaping and had to pay a fine so it's not just the tourists they go for. It just isn't worth the risk.

There's a Swiss guy awaiting trial, been about two months now. From memory he was in jail for 6 days before getting out on bail.

Yet I still take my chances :Dunno1:

In fact, about a week ago, I was on the back of a girls bike on the way to grab some breakfast and holding my vape when a cop runs across blowing his whistle. Thought ... ooooops ... and quickly put it in my pocket. Lucky for me it was a stop for no helmet, chick got a 400 Bht fine all I got was a smile from the cop (hopefully due to my taste in girls not him fancying me!).

Rumour mill on a Thai vaping site - end of next month there will be a change; either they are going to chill and allow legal shops etc. or they are going to step up enforcement and drive it further underground. Not holding my breath for option 1, Thai Tobacco Company holds the power.

These shenanigans have stepped up a lot since my april trip this year. The overall vibe has me quite stressed, actually.

I switched to vaping almost 4 years ago, and feel so much better healthwise for it, and have completely lost the Desire to smoke traditional cigarettes, the smell now grosses me out.

The problem is, I am a nicotine addict, but smoking cigarettes is something I will not and can not do.

I'm trying to wean myself off now, for my november trip as I don't spend much time in my room and I don't feel safe about vaping anywhere else now. It's put a bit of a dampener on the exhilaration of returning.

I might just cold turkey in LOS, if I do then please give me a wide berth.

Don't let it stress you, take your vape and use it in the room. Also some closed bars are fine with them being used away from prying eyes, best to check first though.

I gave factory mades away nearly 3 years ago but on my August trip I had a few Marlboro Purple Bursts and didn't mind them as the capsule has a nice flavour. I still much prefer my Vape to a smoke but sometimes you need to adapt.

By big tobacco you mean TTM, the biggest supplier in Thailand and owned by the Ministry of Finance?
