I had bad food poisoning about five years ago, hotel called a doctor and they came to the hotel and sorted me out.  But you could just go to any of the hospitals, it’s not a major.

I must be overdue some sort of incident. Given what I drink and some of things I've gotten up to in Pattaya I've been really lucky.

One near miss when I decided on impulse after a few beers to stay an extra week and redirected my taxi to the Mercure instead of BKK. I was pretty pissed and had just been checking out of the view from my balcony when I turned to go back in to the room. I tripped on the corner leg of the sun lounger and fell forward, full force. I stuck out with my right hand instinctively and was able to partially break my fall against the window frame. Two inches to the right and there's no way those glass doors would have taken my weight. It could have been very nasty and I was lucky boy. I still think about now, three years later.

Other than that, getting 8 mozzie bites around my left ancle in the time it took to eat a pad thai outside Kiss. They absolutely savaged me and I was oblivious until it was too late. My ancle blew up like a baloon.

Was falling in love with a BG had seen her a few nights and really liked her I stupidly told her it was my last night.

Met her at ibar had a few drinks and she suddenly said I need to give my sister the key to room so I said I would wait here for her.... 

Waited for an hour and figured she is clearly not coming back... Left ibar and came back a couple hours later to find her with some Dutch bloke. I was not happy  but can laugh about it now haha

Didn’t happen to me, I witnessed it, not a good day for the guy.

i was working out at gym at 5 star hotel. Front is all glass overlooking tennis court. A guy sprints by the window, holding an armful of tennis rackets. Frantically tries to open the door to gym door with key card. He’s so frantic he drops all the tennis racquets.  Finally gets door open and runs by me in a semi sitting position. I thought someone was chasing him. 
 

about 15 seconds later I  was hit by a terrible smell. He left a trail of Poop from tennis court to gym toilet, about 50 yards long.

i added that to my many Thai memories.

Mistakenly took a LB to my room - when I found out - I calmly tried to ask Him to “please leave” - Staered MAJOR DRAMA !!

wanted Stupid money / police / started making every threat under the sun / rape / drugs / breaking shit blah blah blah - finally collected my jangled thoughts and called desk and asked for security- then the physical assault began - afraid to retaliate as I didn’t want to get in any deeper, was NOT going to submit to blackmail - I want MONEY !!!

thank Christ security showed up and apparently dealt with this scenario before - grabbed a handful of hair and drug the offender out - never to be seen again, massive Tip for security guy !!

kept “eyes in the back of my head” for the rest of that vacation. Lesson learned- always determine who - what - your dealing with before heading to the room.

In the very beggining when I was propper fresh i had £2000 stolen from my hotel reception safe, a girl claimed to be my wife by showing a ring on her finger and they gave her full access to my safe. She even took my passport but decided to dumb it in the bin and it was found by the cleaners. At this point I still had 3 weeks left on my holiday. Money was tight and I had to use a credit card.

Yes a girl I knew unfortunately, went to the police with her address that was a bangkok address in Thai and he looked at me like i was on another planet. I turned around and said to my friend he probably wants me to pay him. The police looked at me and nodded his head yes. Even then if I pay him to go and get my money he would of just taken it off her and made out he couldn't find it. I walked out  learned a hard lesson. Never had it done to me again. Since then I stay in a much more secure hotel where you use your own padlock on there safes. The girls when they leave your room the hotel will phone you up and ask if its OK for them to leave. If you don't answer they won't let her leave the hotel

Seems pretty obvious you got done by the old receptionist ripoff scam, where the girl makes a deal with the hotel staff to rip you off and they split your money between them.

hotel was at fault regardless, so they should have been your focus really, not the girl.

Yea your absolutely right, I was fresh and it was my first or second trip to Thailand, had absolutely no clue and was soo naive. We all learn from our mistakes tho. Experience is key

Was renting a house out by Lake Mabprachan back in 2008. Left a second floor door open when we went to bed and the next morning all my wife’s valuables were gone.

Thats an horrible thing to happen especially to a newbie, you`re right though we all learn from our mistakes even though we all still slip into complacency now and again.

I use the hotel room safe and although its not 100% safe its good enough for me, incidents can and do still occur but you have to be very unlucky or careless to have it happen to you.

Safe is okay but I split my cash into three with three different locations in the room.

Not gonna give away my two other spots (they are secure ... not just chucking it into a shoe), but I figure if one is compromised I'm only 1/3rd down, and with safe the most likely spot to be hit I'll still be set for cash if it does.

Went out for my birthday, spent about 25,000 baht and lost my brand new iPhone. Think I was drugged but not entirely sure what happened.

-Credit card got rejected and locked automatically by the ATM, leaving me without cash on my last two days (luckily I was smart and had already set aside taxi money for the airport so I wouldn't have been completely screwed). Got it sorted out because I work for a bank and knew a guy who could immediately hook me up and get my card working again on the same day. Thank god that worked out, had the best girl ever on the last night.

-A random girl on Soi6 grabbed and twisted my nuts hard while walking by, hurt like hell. I really had to work hard to suppress my urge to knock her out on the spot...

-Oh yeah and I made the classic mistake of taking a LB up to my room by accident, had me fooled at first.. And I wasn't even drunk, I better get some better glasses for the future..

Second day of my first visit to BKK i burnt the outside of my leg walking into a motorbike exhaust pipe. Jumped off the ground it hurt so much....pretty much dissolved the top layer of skin. Got some cream from a pharmacy. Apply cream and let it dry out...rinse and repeat.

The following day i travelled to Pattaya.... Every time i looked down at the burn there were Mozzies tucking into it...i couldn't even feel it. I was a little concerned i was going to pick up something nasty or get a bad infection.

Tried applying plasters but they kept coming off. Every time i went for a foot massage and told the ladies what had happened they would clean and redress it for me ....never have i been so well looked after by so many strangers. 

 

Ended up healing really well and i only have a small scar.
