Hotels in High Season: Can I wing it?

Hey all,

This is my first post on the forum. Thanks for all the great info. I have my second trip coming up in January 2018 and I'm seeking some advice. I plan on travelling around between Pattaya, Bangkok, and then down to Malaysia for a bit. Ideally, I would like to not follow a rigid schedule and move around simply on a whim.

I wanted to know if this will be a problem during high season. Will I have trouble finding places to stay or extending visits? I understand I will probably pay more, but are we talking double prices, or is that exaggerated? If it's going to save me a lot of stress and cash, I would maybe compromise and book in advance.

Cheers,

Seb

The only day you need a reservation is New Years Eve.  Otherwise,  sometimes the walk-in rate is lower than what you would pay if you book in advance.

Great. Thanks for the advice mate.

Just use Agoda or similar sites. Should be no issues

these prices may be higher at the time, instead of booking earlier.

as for walk in rates in high season, I tried that last Xmas at a few places and was quoted the same prices As the websites.

What sort of budget have you in mind

Good information. I think about 1500 baht a night is what I'm looking for. After some research, I think I'll try Adelphi or D hotel, though I understand D hotel fills up in January.
