Is anyone aware of a service that will let you forward an American/Canadian SMS number to a Thai phone ? 

This is for things like banks and other security things that want to send you a verification code to your phone. They don't like international numbers.

I looked into getting a Skype number but it doesn't have SMS capabilities.

I use Fongo to receive SMS to my Canadian number. I ported my mobile number in Canada to Fongo, and SMS messages come through to the app on my iphone. Fongo is a VOIP app, and you can buy credit with them to use your Canadian number anywhere in the world with a wifi or mobile data connection.
