What Data Package and extend the life of the SIM

I visit twice yearly (up to 8 months or so between visits) and have mostly been getting a tourist SIM at the airport on arrival. Seems a bit of a waste (a) paying over the odds for the package at the airport and (b) dumping the card after each stay and having to get a new number each time I arrive.

Now I'm not clear on how much data I actually use or what package to get, I usually just opt for the number of days I plan to stay and blindly pick something from the menu. My internet usage is mostly for emails, Line, Wechat, Maps.me and a bit of browsing but no Buckface running constantly or stuff like that so probably not a significant data user (don't know how much the bloatware updates etc use up either).

If I get the basic SIM and choose an add-on internet deal, can I extend the life of the SIM for the next visit? What data package should I get?

My phone is a second gen Moto G (3G) dual SIM and I'll be visiting in August for 11 days and back again in November for a week.

With both TRUE and DTAC you can extend validity for 2 baht per month.

They may have a 15 day 1GB or 2GB package for 107 baht or credit.

I use Ais and have the same sim card and number for years.

I always buy a data package that will last me while I am there and a small amount for voice and text

Than just top up at any c store with a small amount.  

Every time you top up it adds 30 days to your plan.

After a couple trips it is easy to push it out a year with no problem and almost no investment
