Stayed at LK The Empress in early July and will be coming back to Pattaya late August.

Since each location gives water, has a safe, nice bathrooms, bathrobes, and is guest friendly, I am not sure which of the two to pick.

I really liked LK The Empress except the everything gold was a bit much lol.  Everything else was great, especially the Family Mart attached to it.

How does Page 10 compare?  I want to try somewhere new but I read the wifi is terrible there and staff is rude.  Worth a shot to try it out or should I play it safe?

I stayed at one of the LK properties last year.  I found Page 10 to be much more convenient.  If yo dont mind walking 10 minutes you are centrally located for Walking street, LK Metro and Soi6.  All are a 10 minute hike, but you are also a 3 minute walk to the ocean.  Breakfast was average, but rooms and shower were more modern.  Bed was nice and big, but a bit hard. I also tried Areca Lodge last time.  A little bit older hotel, but much better location for daytime activities, and if you wanted to be near LK Metro at night.  I liked the area.  Lots to choose from during the day, starting with Breakfast at Canterbury Tales, Bake and Brew or Robins Nest, all within 5 min walk.  From there you have Amons, Orar Massage, Paradise Massage, Honey Pot?, Club Excite, Triangle Bar, Billabong, Climax, a number of go-gos and Devils Den if thats your pleasure.  And all a 5 min walk from Areca Lodge.   It has a good breakfast and nice pool area.    Soi6 was  a 5 minute motorbike ride.  I'm staying at Areca again, but my second choice would be Page 10. Good Luck.

Did you have any issues with the water pressure/hot water with the tub at Lk Empress? I saw on a few reviews online that due to the hotel's age it becomes a disappointment of having a hot tub but not being able to use it.

I have stayed at both and Page 10 would be an easy choice. Indeed page 10 would be my choice of 3/4 star mid priced hotel regardless/

Avoid Page 10 unless you're paying in cash.  Had my credit card details stolen there in December, lucky I caught it just before the first fraudulent transaction went through and got the card cancelled just in time.

Never used it.  The hot water in the shower worked but I had to turn the cold on then back it down for the hot water to work properly.  Dunno why that method worked but it did.

Even if I book through Agoda I risk that?

I would avoid Page10 because its really dated and you can see that everywhere.

So I understand page 10 visually maybe small kine dated but do they facilities they advertise match up to par? Specifically the rain shower/tub , water pressure? , hot water? ability to fit 2+ people?

Living sober, clean and staying away from loose women doesn't make a man live any longer. It just fucking feels like it.

I really liked the location of page 10. Super convenient as others have mentioned while still being off the main road. The bar at the end of the alley can get (and stays) loud if you're on the soi side of the hotel

The beds were large as was the shower. Pool area is on the smaller side and beds can fill up quickly during peak times. Never had a problem with theft booking through agoda.

No idea, I'm guessing it depends on how Agoda process payments, do they pass your details on to the hotel or take the payment themselves.  Either way I wouldn't risk it again, it's not a lot of fun to go through even once and I was lucky I was back at home and not trying to get it sorted from Thailand.

I stayed at both hotels, but my preference is, by far, Page 10. The LK's all are in my view, very outdated. Rooms are more spacy, but not as nice as Page 10. Bathroom in the LK is bad. Pool is better in LK, in Page 10 rather small actually. Location wise, they are situated excellently and also price-wise there is not really much difference.

I've stayed three times at Page 10 but on my latest trip i felt that it was starting to look a bit dated. I also had to change rooms as the wet room wasn't draining properly . The breakfast had also deteriorated significantly in the 12 months since my previous stay. Shame as i really like the location.

I`ve never stayed there, but i read reveiws of the place and although nice things still get said about it i get the impression the rooms could do with a refurb!

Firstly, having stayed at both i would say Page 10 by a country mile.

With regard to Vimto66 quote about the refurb. Probably it could be but its still "smarter" than most.

Of the top of my head I think its about 5 or 6 years old. That means most people first saw it when it was new or newish. They therefor have different "memories" than they would of a 20 year old hotel hotel which may already have been a bit tired when they first stayed.

Having stayed at many hotels the only one that really seemed to "keep up" with refurbs/maintenance was the PBR (under previous owner). I would also guess the higher end hotels will do so as most are international chains who fully understand the fiscal, long term, benefits of permanent ongoing maintenance. Many of the (non chain) 3 stars here (so thats a big majority) are Thai owned and like many things here they dont seem to prioritise spending.

I prefer Page 10.

stayed at LK Empress in April and didn't like it.  They were building next door and the noise woke you early in the morning.  Could hear it from the pool too.  At the same time they were doing something with the water pipes inside the hotel and that racket lasted all afternoon too (that's probably finished now).  Was tired the entire holiday because of the noise.

room was ok but the lights in the bathroom were so dull you couldn't see much.  Shower was tiny compared to Page 10.

Shared my room with three Geckos at LK too.  Thought they were cute at first but you shit your pants when you forget they are there and you go near one and it darts away from you
