Am assuming they will have some way of accessing Mikes out of hours otherwise it will struggle. It opens really late at 11am am not sure what time closes but I doubt 11pm at the latest and probably 10pm.

Cant see it doing well with a 12 hour window

18K is no bargain, especially since it won't be 24/7. If they're charging 18K, that means the monthly rate will probably be at least 2k,if not more. I'll stick with Fitness 7. Where will this Muscle Factory be located?

Well, I never said it it's a bargain tho. Yes the monthly rate is even more 2500b and 3 months 6000b. But the machine park is really awesome! I can't stand the heat in F7 but each to their own of course. And also find F7 is quite poor in the machine park. F7 is not for those serious fitness people. More for those selfie gym guys. What I do miss in both this new is a the lack of power rack. Not none of them have a deadlift pod as well. When I talked to Coco gym the wanted get one but didn't had any space for the power rack yet. It's kind of full in there I can admit. Coco gym have also a class room so it will attract more girls I think.

The free weight area is under all critics in both Gyms. It should have more dumbbells and cover at least up to 60kg in my opinion to be a decent gym.

Coco fitness cover almost every machine you may need or not need. Except I couldn't see any decent legpress. Only the sitting girl model legpress.

I will sign up there for sure. It's not really a huge cost of 18k per year comparing to mostly new gym in Thailand and hopefully a really great aircon. If I go heavy I go to Castra, Tony's or Better bodies with better free weights there. For high reps then F7 and this new gym will work out just fine!

The same muscle factory in BKK? That place is dope.

Yes they expanding to Pattaya now. They planned to open in in December but had to solve with the infamous "bureaucracy" in Pattaya. So latest update was to Mars 2018 when I spoke to one of the owner in Bkk. Yes it's a really powerlifter and hardcore gym in every aspect. No bitching around there and screaming and drop the weight in the deadlift is encouraged by the gym. Feels just like a second home for me!

Also the leg machines is really good from Hammerstrengh. According to the owner the gym will be located in Jomtien Soi 5.

I've stopped by the 4th floor a couple of times to check the place out. However, I haven't seen anything about hours or even when they plan to open. If the place doesn't open until 11, it will be inundated during the hours it is open. Because of where it's located in the building, it doesn't seem feasible to me that Mike's will be able to allow gym members early entrance before normal building operating hours. I wonder whether the problem of hours was even considered when they decided to put  gym in the building. We will have to wait and see.

youve nailed it there buddy its just not feasible to have access before 11am. Its possible I guess to have  guards standing outside at an allocated entrance to walk people to the gym but seems a ludicrous solution.Doomed to failure

I just joined a brand new pure gym in Edinburgh for £12.99 a month no contract.

Some off these prices in Pattaya are a bit high

I've been using Fitness 7 for the last month and haven't noticed any problems, and I'm tall.

You are probably working out in the open air section with the real weights.  Some of the inside machines are not adjustable for anyone over 5'8".  Like the inside leg extension and curl machines.

Bummer is I love using the rowing machines.  Well I don't actually love working out at all but I hate them less than other cardio machines.  And they used to have 2 or 3 of them.  None there now.  I asked and apparently they are awaiting spare parts.  Yeah right.  Oh and the spin classes they had planned?  Still no bikes so I guess that isn't happening.

I just renewed my membership for one month, but have concerns about the continued viability of the place. About a week ago the water wasn't working in the locker room- no showers or wash basins. I remember California WOW, the gym that was there about five years ago, had their electricity turned off before closing shop. Despite Fitness 7's limitations, it is very conveniently located and open 24/7. Hopefully those features allow it to carry on.

It's like that in the USA also. Gyms are much cheaper now than they were many years ago. For that to happen in Thailand, they will need a lot more gym membership. As far as I have been able to ascertain from the Gyms I've been to in LOS, most of the users are farangs. There just aren't enough farangs to allow Thailand to have a critical mass membership like the West.

On most days there is no apparent activity inside.  A few days ago I saw a farang gentleman in there but I didn't want to disturb him.  Today there were a couple of Thai guys inside doing work and one of them gave me a flyer with rates:

Daily: 300B

Monthly: 2,500B

Quarterly: 6,000B

6-Month: 10,000B

Yearly: 18,000B

The Thai guys seemed to be contractors and had no idea when the gym would open.  From the looks of things an August 1st opening isn't likely, but I could be wrong.

Monthly 2500, F7 is only 1500, so my question is will this place be better than F7? Is it worth the extra 1000?

Mike's mall has the slooooooowest elevators in all of asia.

From the equipment I've seen it's definitely worth it. Top new Technogym machines and dumbbells up to 70kg. F7 is made for girls workouts.

Yes for sure. I already have 2 more memberships in town so that will be just a nice touch with Technogym machines, Aircon and heavy ass weights! Then will of course sign up with Muscle factory when they open.

Nice. I figured you would have multi-memberships as its so hard to find everything in one gym, in thailand.

you're a big guy right? Bodybuilder size? I have no use for 70kg dumbells lol

Yes not only in Thailand. Everywhere in the world. But it's not only that. I like change environment and have other equipment  and people around me. Guess goes  with mongering as well 555! It keep me more motivated.

Well, yes some say I look quite big cause I'm so short. Right now I cutting so I don't look so "huge" anymore. More to attract women than scary monster Hulk lol! Having this condition now and gonna drop 7kg more in fat.

Pataya669 Place me in the girlie workout group.  LOLs.  I have no use for 70 kg dumbbells.

I really like a good rowing machine and agree many of the machines in Fitness7 are unusable due to me being 6' tall.  And the rowing machines are all broken.  next trip I might pay the extra if the equipment is better and if it's got AC throughout.  So please continue the good work reporting  here.  I will also be interested in hours and how crowded it gets.  I like company in the gym as it adds motivation to keep moving but I don't like competing for equipment.  Also don't like if the equipment is too close together.  Maybe when they open you can get a few pictures for us.

Thanks.

Looks like some electrical work has been done, but they started up some kind of new construction/renovation off in a corner of the facility.  So there is activity, but it seems no closer to opening.

Latest update by the Cocco Fitness themself is that the final opening date is now 1st of September!
