Whey Protein seems WAY (no pun intended) EXPENSIVE in Pattaya... ???

Where do you buy inexpensive Whey protein around here?

There's nowhere cheap in Thailand mate especially in Pattaya. The only place I seen it 'cheap' was in a Muay Thai stall in chatuchak weekend market in Bangkok. Seen a 2.2kg tub for 1000B. It was Gold Standard brand, wether it was real or not is a different story.

Just get on the juice and live on chicken kebab sticks from the street vendors :)

I have ordered from http://www.pattayawhey.com/ before just because its convenient, not sure how their prices compare with inshop locations.. But every shop i see it at like Bic Extra, central etc seems more expensive (considering they have to pay to have that location).

26/33 is about 78% protein. Usually that % is towards the budget end of whey in the UK. Being plant based, maybe its a struggle to get it higher. I bet its more expensive than animal whey ....cus everyone loves to screw those silly veggies out of a few $$$

I don't think there's anything in the whole of chatuchak market that's not a copy, so I certainly wouldn't be buying protein powder here. Who knows what could actually be in it.

I've searched around pattaya for reasonably priced protein powder & have basically given up, I take it with me from home now. Unlike here in the UK where you can buy it cheap in quite a few different stores, I just recently brought a  1kg bag from home bargains for £10 & B&M regularly sell USN for about £13. Although not powder 7/11 do sell ready made protein drinks for 49baht.

No idea...I don't pay for any of it ever.

People drop the stuff off for me to try cause they want me to sell it in my gym.

if it tastes good....I drink it,then I decide which one I can make the most money on.

I order this stuff online and just add fruit to give it some taste - 820 baht for 1kg and discounts for ordering more. Usually delivered in 1-2 days and the lady who runs it, Korn, is very helpful.

I have been drinking those 49baht drinks .. not bad ... 25-28g protein.. need about 3 a day (I am a small guy) .. so.. 150baht a day x 30 days is 4500 baht a month ...

I was buying inexpensive whey at Wal-Mart in USA for 500baht ($15) for 2lbs (about 1kg) .. 30grams of protein pet scoop ..

If shipping wasn't so f'ing ridiculous.. and customs not so draconian.. I would just ship it too myself ..

If there is ANY reason I would love from Thailand .. it will be because of the inability to get anything in the mail ..

Thanks for your input

I understand the convenience factor but its far better to get your protein from food ,eat healthy food is your power, and stay away from energy drinks

I agree personally.

I also understand the convenience factor, but in my opinion protein powders and supplements are a waste of money for most people.

Many people absolutely over estimate the amount of protein they need on a daily basis (much to the benefit of the supplement industry).

In past trips to Thailand, I've taken protein powders as well as protein/meal replacement bars, and I hardly used them. Just too many tasty food options around (sure it could be different if you live there long term, but I'm referring to a typical vacation). One can easily get the protein they want from the foods they eat everyday in Pattaya, and there is so much variety of foods you can eat.

https://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/interactiveDRI/

Based on the above calculator, for my age and activity level, I need 55 grams of protein per day. One typical steak and baked potato meal, which can be found in numerous Pattaya restaurants, can give me almost 70 grams of protein total. Add in a Big Mac combo meal at McD's and that's another 30 grams of protein. Just two meals in and you've already exceeded even the maximum recommended dose.
