Hi BMs,

I am planning to stay at Eastiny Residence Hotel. But the reviews at below thread make me worried about safety of money.

Please share your recent experience of staying at this hotel.

Thanks,

RJ

I stayed for about 3 weeks at eastiny residence in soi 10 in march.

No complaints, room clean, nice staff.

No safes in the room though. I booked through Agoda and they stated that there were safe's in the rooms. I checked on Eastiny's own page and they said there were only safe's at the reception area. Wrote back to Agoda that stated that there were safe's in the rooms... Bottom line, no safe's in the rooms ( or at least not mine ). Had no problems, wrote Agoda when i got back home and they gave me an apology and a 130 dollar voucher for my next bookings. The 130 dollars were because i booked for myself and a friend, so 2 rooms for almost 3 weeks. Fair enough i think.

Location of the hotel is imo great. Br 1 minute away, WS 5 minutes, Buakhow 5-10 minutes, soi 6 5 mins with baht bus on 2nd road.

Thanks ShaneFalco,

Were you comfortable keeping money in safe at reception?

I didnt keep my money in the safe at the reception. Small bag with padlock containing cc and passport. Not impossible to break, but at least i would know if i had to cancel my cc's.

Regarding money, i just keep it in the room. I never have more than 10-12.000 baht and thats before i go out...

The thread referenced in the OP is really old and might be confused between various Eastiny properties anyway.  If anybody on the forum had stuff stolen in recent years, a search would turn it up.  I stayed there recently and can say the following:  The posted rack rate in the lobby is B1200 and that is the price they seriously tell you if you are a walk-in.  I'm not sure if that includes breakfast.  Prices on Agoda are way cheaper.  The breakfast if purchased separately is B200.  I didn't try it, so I don't know if it is any good.  There is a safe down in the office area, but I don't think the looms have safes, even though the Agoda description might include one.  The looms themselves are fine.  There is a nice pool (that I didn't try).  Looms on the 2nd road end of the building get a little "thumpa-thumpa" effect from music being played down at the bar beer complex.

Personally I prefer a hotel with a room safe.
I like the room safes that require a new number every time they are opened, like the ones in Bedtime Pattaya as even if a girl watches you open the safe inadvertently, you just have 3 different numbers that you use, but rotate them daily, or every time you open the safe?
I am seldom up at breakfast, so usually go to Jimmy Mac's on Soi 6, Canterbury Tales on Soi Lenkee or Irish Rovers on LK Metro as they are all tried and tested.
Locking your money in your suitcase is something I have done before, just spend a few extra dollars on a hard case that doesn't have a zip (unless it can be locked in one position as it be easily broken into with anything sharp, and rezipped)
