Boomerang Guesthouse - a Lottellee Winna Review

Over the last 6 years or so, I have stayed in approaching 40 hotels and guesthouses in and around Pattaya. I stay in all types and classes of places - with my missus and nipper it is 5 star (eg Amari Residences on Pratumnak), with mates over on holiday from the UK or Australia it is usually 3/4 star (Areca/CentaraAzure/247), when I am on my own or with expat golfing mates, it is usually 1,000THB or under. IME, it is possible to get real quality in all price brackets - with this in mind, I decided to see if I could bag a decent room for 500THB. To date, my cheapest has been 800THB at the excellent Haven on soi Lenkee. Having read PA reviews, I decided on Boomerang and inquired about their smallest (500THB) room.

Booking: It is remarkably easy to book a room. The owners Michael and Tina allow bookings 'on trust' (certainly to PA members) - simply email or call to book. Note this is a very popular place, so booking in advance is advised. I phoned Michael and made my reservation - on arrival, he said that an existing guest wanted to stay on in the small room and that he had a bigger room available, even better that he would let me have it for the original 500THB price. Prices range from 500THB small rooms all the way up to large and luxurious suite-type rooms at 1,000THB.

Location: On soi Buhakow, pass LK Metro on your right, and when you reach Asia Backpackers turn right. The location is excellent, located in a relatively quiet soi, it is just a few minutes walk to LK and situated between 2nd road and soi Bukhow , both with access to baht buses. There is a bar next door & a LB bar across the street on the Soi, with some generally low-level music/noise at night, but its always finished by 2am and was never a problem. Boomerang itself is very quiet both during the day & at night, and Michael, his wife & staff all very friendly and helpful..

Room: I had 5 nights this trip in the second smallest room (A2) on the first floor. The room was exactly as i expected, relatively small, but well appointed and this is reflected in the price I paid. Boomerang also has very large rooms too. My room had a big fridge, microwave, kettle etc, excellent AC, a fan and very good WIFI, big flat screen tv, safe and a large bathroom with great walk-in rain-shower. A criticism of many places is that the beds are too hard - well in Boomerang they are extremely comfortable.

Guesthouse Facilities:  Michael and Tina are great hosts and will go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The bar area  is a well stocked and a comfortable area to sit in - nice to sit and relax. They also have a laundry facility which is speedy and offers good value. Like all/most guest houses there is no check-in of 'joiners', nor is there any 'walk-of-shame' through a busy bar area. There is a separate entrance for guests to come and go, operated by an electronic key-fob system at night. Just a couple of things to note (1) No soap in bathroom - no probs as 7/11 nearby; and (2) no food for sale, again no probs as there are so many great eateries within a few seconds walk.

Overall; For 500THB pn, my stay at Boomerang represented outstanding value. Location, quality of room and friendliness are the key selling points. Boomerang has a real 'cult' following among many members on PA and it is easy to understand why.

Lottellee Winna Score: 8/10....500THB represents fantastic value!

No mate, the safes are only big enough for an ipad. I will add that it is highly unlikely that you will get anything stolen: trustworthy staff + Michael is on site + good electronic night-time security.

Stayed there when it first opened, great place, but best to make reservation in advance, often booked up.

I've stayed there twice in the big A1 room, loved it. Excellent room and one of the very rare guesthouses with a "closed" shower

Oops meant to post this in the hotel and Guest House section....I will ask the Mods to move.

I have also stayed in many 3/4* hotels in my 21 trips in 9 years but discovered Boomerang Guesthouse when it first opened 3 years ago and have my 8th? stay there coming up for trip 22 in July. I endorse everything OP states. I prefer to book when one of the "1" rooms are available but have stayed in a "2" room, as stated it has a high repeat booking clientele and often is booked well in advance but is now my first choice every trip.

Stayed in A2 a few times. Great room (note: it is the 600 baht room not 500 baht). Micheal is awesome bloke and host. Perfect location and great value with I think the best beds I have slept in. A1, B1 and C1 beds are  terrific.

As I recall, monthly rate low season is 14,000 - 19,000 THB pm, depending on room.

I've stayed in A2 and B1 in the past, and I have to agree, Boomerang is an awesome place to stay. The big rooms are actually ~huge~ rooms, and I think hard to beat the cost per square meter.

The very best part to me is that they have quite comfortable beds in a value priced accommodation, and (for the most part) a quiet location.

If you fancy hooking up for a beer I'm your man. My mate from the UK is over in October so I will be in town most of the month.

Sounds like a plan, me and a good mate arrive 2nd October and will be at Boomerang for a week so no problem catching up for a beer if you are there then.

Could even hit the Bamboo Bar as well and see what mischief we could get up to.

I stayed in a-2 my last trip, perfect room. Small but cozy, room was cleaned immediately after going out. Bed was very comfortable.  Responce was quick when dealing thru emails or PMs.

i can also say the room was quiet, I have sleep problems and this is one of if not the quietest rooms I have stayed at in Asia.

a big plus for me, location and everything is great.

kudos!

Another big plus I found when I was staying at Boomerang, put my laundry in early AM and got it back by afternoon. So far, in many trips, many hotels, and many laundry shopfronts, Boomerang has been the only place where I actually got same day laundry service. :-)

It depends on the weather to allow to dry in time.

Yes. I imagine this week has been a bit challenging. :-)  Last time I stayed at your guesthouse it was during the everyday sunshine of winter in Thailand.

I have booked a room, but am a bit unsure about the exact location.. could someone help me out..

If i proceed on Soi Buakhao from Pattaya Klang to Pattaya Tai...

I will see soi Honey on my right, soi LK Metro on my right, soi Chaiyapoon on my left, soi Diana on the right, soi Lengkee on my left...

Where is this new Soi ?

I am afraid i haven't gone much further than soi-Lengkee on soi Buakhao
