transmission and tires for old Toyota

My (lady) friend has an 03 Toyota Wish.  She needs tires, 195/65R15, a common size, and was quoted 14000B which seems crazy (I can get a new tire in the US at $65 in that size).  Suggestions on where to send her?

Bigger problem, she has what I think is an automatic transmission problem, but it is hard enough to talk to her about simple stuff, car stuff is way beyond here.  She was quoted a 26000B repair but I have no clue what they are suggesting to "repair".  She can drive the car, suggestions for a shop she could take it to?

A Tire shop I think are Honest is Behind Tesco Trepassit Road near the Night Market....3500 Baht you can Buy 90% Dunlops or many other brands and they Install them..Full Set of 4 Tires....They sell New also for a Very good discount...Fast Drive in and out in an Hour..Old Car Maybe Used are Better..They come off accident Cars but are 90% rubber left...

  Be careful on the Transmission work..Many get ripped off when all it needs is a Fluid and Filter change

Thanks for the tire suggestion.  From her description I do fear she needs transmission work, and if she really needs it replaced it would be expensive I know, but not being there I have no way to know, so I'm hoping for a referal to someone likely to be honest.  Obviously with an 03 even if it needs replacement a used or rebuilt tranny makes more sense.

Used Parts here are tough to find and May have more problems then what you have..No Guarantee on Used....Filters--Fluid Change and Band adjustment First..This is Cheap compared to Replacement..Most Garages can perform this

Isn't that a re-thread shop? Back in my early 20's (low on money) I bought re-thread tires and had an accident when one of the re-reads blew out on the motorway under normal use., ended up crashing my car into a post ....Re-treads? Never again.

Can you do a band adjustment on a modern auto transmission? I thought that disappeared around the same time as cast iron housings.....

A standard workshop can only do oil change and maybe change solenoids. Everyhing inside an auto transmission is specialist work.
