Hi guys, just putting the feelers out for these 2 golf clubs.

They used to be regular destinations for my group until a couple of years ago when they suddenly looked like there was a total lack of maintenance and watering. On our last outing a couple of years ago both courses were dead and dying.

Haven't played there since, and I'm just wondering if anyone can give me an update on their present condition.

Hoping to re-visit in March depending on favourable reports.

Where the fuck is Skalli when you need him?

Played mountain shadow a month ago and it was in decent condition. However, both these courses rely heavily on rainfall as they have little natural water supply, so after long periods without rain, mountain shadow, especially, becomes a dustbowl.

Crystal bay a couple of weeks ago was in good nick!

Played Mountain Shadow in Nov, course was in good condition, some of the course furniture, drink stops, the clubhouse and the changing rooms show a lack of investment. There was a power cut also which meant no lighting in the already dark shower area and no hot water, so no showers.

But in the recent past this has always seemed to be reflected by the prices.

Overall, I think its a good course and was in good condition.

Yeah, last time we played there , the showers were off.

May have been August 2015.

Certainly a lack of interest in upkeep

I played Crystal Bay about 4 weeks ago. The course was ok-nothing special about it except for the fact that the caddies were on strike for the day. Nobody would tell us why.

Played Crystal bay for the match play late January and it was awesome.

Got beat badly but had a great time.

Played both courses this month...both in good condition....pace of greens seem to differ on the different nines.

Are you sure it was not Crystal bay?

A loop now closed, B loop only opened a year ago and the greens are significantly better and faster than C loop. The first green on C always feels like a sponge carpet to me.
