Car Service, HKT to Patong?

Recommended Posts

Do any of your guys use a car service from HKT to Patong, like how people have their go-to drivers from Swampy to Patts? If so, I'm looking for a recommendation.  I suppose it isn't hard to just get a taxi, considering this is a much shorter trip.  Still, I'd rather not go flying off a cliff on the way over, so I'm all ears if you have a recommendation.

You may have better response if you post this question in the Transportation section.

I have been in Phuket twice. Both of the times, I stayed in BYD Loft. From HKT to Patong, I took the mini van. It took me about 5 minutes wait for the van to fill up with passengers. The van stop at their office first which they try to sale the tour. After everyone said "no" (another 5 minutes), the van on their way to Phuket. It dropped off different people at different hotel. The cost was 180 THB.

BYD Loft has a Mercedes to do local short trips. It cost me 200 THB just to take me to Hard Rock café and the mall. So, I asked the hotel about the cost to bring me back to HKT. They said they don't use the car to do that and called a private taxi for me. I don't remember the exact cost but it was like 800 THB.

Both the van and private taxi driver drive safely. I didn't get the taxi driver's name and number. Sorry, not much help if you are looking for something like Mr. T.

Thanks! Might look into the group van thing. I took taxi's last times, but I have a feeling I got gouged. They put me in one of those vans by myself both times. Probably more expensive. Good tips.

I've booked hkt-patong transfer via singapore airlines for $25 sgd for a 10 seater bus. From memory the car transfer was even cheaper. Will post how that goes on a month's time

Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?"
Socialite: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course... "

Socialite: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!"
Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price”

Right so I used transfers.singaporeair.com and used this service yesterday. Clean minibus, plenty of room for luggage, uniformed driver, travel time around 45 minutes.

They use a company called connexxe who further subcontacts to a local taxi/tour company.

Speaking to the local company directly I was able to haggle the price from Patong to ao nang down to 2500 for a 10 seater bus. Same trip if booked via singapore air site was for 4000 THB.

If I can ask, how were you able to get ahold of the local company that you were able to haggle with? Are they at the airport separately or did you have to make a phone call or go out and find them? Thanks

So the local company gave a pack with their details and a rep who I called to my hotel.

Hope this helps....
