All I (think I) know is that the value of LePub was Phil - that's why people went there. Not because of it's location. Why pay for that in goodwill when Phil has taken that value to Rum Runner?
 

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, it does not add up. 3 businesses bought within a short span, can't see any commonalities or strategy of some sort. The new plan for this pub is analogous to squeezing a jacuzzi to a small bathroom because my in-laws like it. 

At least for Escape, the vision was good but the execution of the key element - the number and quality of girls was poor.

You've already written off the poor bloke without knowing half the facts.
 

• Le Pub was really cheap rent (low overheads)
• He bought Identi for an absolute bargain rock bottom price probably never to be repeated
• Owning 2 of the same style of bar close to each other on Walking Street isn't the worst idea
• Might be a market for lower priced drinks and ladies as he got both cheap enough

And the thing is he will likely fail anyway as most businesses do in the first year. But as he'a actually done it he'll learn lots from it. You learn nothing making assumptions as a bystander. I can tell that by a lot of the posts on here.

Whatever anyone thinks isn't a new Bar especially on Soi Diamond a good thing.

Windmill, EB, Milk ti name a few can only be a good thing for what was once a failing area.

All we need now is him open a few in Spi 15 WS and it will almost be like 10 yrs ago 555

 

Notice I said 10 not 20 when those Soi were busy and rammed with establishments

Was dark / closed 2 days ago on Saturday or Sunday when I walked by.

I walked by on the same night Phil celebrated his one year anniversary at Rum Runner.  At 9 pm, LePub was fully steel shuttered, outside lights off.  The shoebox GG formerly called Milk was open and I saw girls standing outside.

Well it is a shame when businesses fail (it has).  There was a BM on here where seemed to think he knew a bit about the owner and his other bars. Maybe he’ll chip in. Are the other bars still open? 
 

The new owner certainly changed the format, a few poles with beer bar girls shuffling, an unplayable pool table transverse across  the bar and not a lot of owner presence the few times I went in. and no Thai girls playing pool stream

For what it's worth, the Le Pub Facebook page says it's closed for a refurbish and redesign, to be open later on.
