Free ferry service from Hua Hin to Pattaya available in January

 

BANGKOK, 28 December 2016 (NNT) - The Ministry of Transport will allow tourists to ride a ferry boat between Pattaya and Hua Hin for free as a New Year gift. 

The Marine Department will carry out a test run of the ferry from December 30th to 31st to ensure its safety and the readiness of the piers and other facilities. The ferry service will be available to passengers for free from January 1st to 15th. It will start collecting 1,250 baht from each passenger when it is officially open to the public after the period. 

Two ferry services will be available per day. The first one will leave Hua Hin from 8.30 am on a 113-kilometer journey and will take approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach Pattaya. The second trip will leave Pattaya at 3.30 pm for Hua Hin. The ferry can carry a maximum of 150 passengers per trip. 

In its initial phase, there will be only one ferry whereas the second ferry will be added to the service in March 2017. The total capacity of the to-be-added ferry is 260 passengers.

Someone needs to stop this before it begins.

Charging 1,250 for a ferry ride Pattaya - Hua Hin is a ricidulous price. I is price gauging at its worst. No way the loclas will want to pay that when they can get other public transport options for less than 400 baht. It just indicates the short sightness and stupidity of the operators and the regulatory authorities. They will kill it off before it really has the opportunity to test the market.

 

As for the one free ride - try the lottery, greater chance of winning. It will be the friends & mates freebie trip.

555 OK, Genius....  show me where I mentioned a van?  Nope can't do it.... You, being the genius you are, obviously  place a lesser value on your life than do I, mine. I have done the trip probably 40 times over the years,  how about yourself? For that trip I would never consider a van.... People die in those things far too frequently.

 

Now, Genius, let me know how much change you will get from 2- 2.5K  for the trip Pattaya - Hua Hin in a taxi?  Sorry I wasn't more specific in what I wrote, but being a genius I thought you would have worked that out... Not much I am tipping.

 

As for the 100 minutes, I can only go by what they are advertising as atm there is is nothing to confirm or refute what they are saying.

Average speed 35 Knts  so going to need 40+ at sea Lots of Power and a hell of a lot of fuel each way. Official designation HSC High speed craft AKA  VC Vomit comet.

They did that with one of the new subway lines in BKK a few years bac, some of the attendants (not all) where turning away foreigners. Only the Thais could ride free.

There is a super confy vip bus at nua station that brings u safely direct to huahin in 5 hours for386 baths

there was a VIP trip out on the cat today about lunchtime, they are not back yet

Any views on Hua Hin as a short break (non-mongering) destination?  Never been.
