Thank you kindly for your feedback I will take a look at the size of the chickens, I understood we just cut them down the middle but 100% I will checkout the portion sizes. I'm glad you liked the meat, the BBQ Beans do need some work, as do a few of the other sides dishes, its definitely my focus for next week and I will post some pictures of a new BBQ receipt. I do understand about the pickles to help cut through the sweet BBQ sauce on the plate, we might have to do the pickling ourselves to keep the on-going cost down, again its a project to work on. We are finding many people asking for take-away containers for the left overs, adding bread may just be left on the plate, it is available as a side option.

But thanks again for the great feedback, definitely helps with the general direction we need to take specialising in Southern BBQ rather then generic stuff

All the traditional BBQ joints in the states give a slice or two depending on the order size of the cheap white bread.. usually wonder sty,e bread.. I think here you can get a loaf at big c for like 25 baht and that's like 20 slices... it really does something for authenticity and even though half the customers will waist it there's guys like myself that enjoy it as true bbq.. I've had bbq in the south the north Midwest and not sure about Texas but always cheap ass white bread tossed on top....

Is it a full half rack with the special afternoon price or a little smaller? And a piece of white cheap ass bread, the kinday used it almost every bbq joint across the states would look good next to those ribs on that plate, imo....

Not sure of the drama on this post, uti will agree with kerggerz about the white wonderbread. Type bread..

I have no idea what country this guy is from or what could try the owner of this restaurant is from but I've heard his accent on TV and he's not American and neither is skalliwag.. I think he's Australian if not mistaken. ..

If you've spent the anytime at all down south or a great typically black owned BBQ joint then you know and if you haven't then you think a grill a so e BBQ sauce is great bbq... as I see on here people want it to fall off the bone etc. Good proper bbq pulls away from the bone with each bit and is tender but it never falls off as this means it's been steamed and grilled..

It never hurts to get some in put if asked as this owner has and at that point take it or leave it.. nobody knows everything and nobody opens a restaurant for themselves they open it becomes they have passion and want to serve the people.. if it's for yourself then just have friends over and party at home...

Skalliwag I agree some with you and I don't live far from you but the bbq in Seattle or the Pacific Northwest where we are isn't the carolinas, Kansas City or Tennessee, Mississippi etc.. even Texas which is beef mostly..

Go to big c buy a couple loaf for 20 baht and toss a piece or 2on the plate... there wanting to be authentic and charging a premium price so it's no harm..

Tony romas isn't bbq

Smokin Joe BBQ  needs to learn about branding....posting pics of empty place is a negative ... post pics when place is rocking full.

I feel like I have wandered in to the food version of the club sin thread. China I feel your pain. But you have done an amazing job with steak and Co. I eat there almost every week. If you apply the same business sense to this one I'm sure you will be fine. Ignore the peanut gallery for the most part but take on the occasional point they make that you know internally will help your business.

Fookin hell.

The chickens are too small, no free bread, no free pickles, the water to bean ratio is too high.

Well fuck me, didn't get those in Steak & Co either and somehow the steaks were delicious. Go figure.

Look forward to testing out the menu in February.

Best of luck - sure it will be another success for you.

The meals served up in Joes are top notch and very good value for money

Same quality as S&C

But you do not get a Free slice of bread with the meals so you may want to take you're own 555

Hey , take it easy on the Welsh thingy eh ! ...

And as a Welsh Canadian , born above the 49th. we do wander south to our neighbours and partake in a few BBQ,s...

Maybe i did not go south enough , but they was talking sooooo slowwww in 'Ringold  georgia i did not want to venture too much more to the south without translator...

, so i guess we missed out on the shitty white bread , but the bbq ribs and brisket were yummmmmy...

As a Flemish Belgian I eat bread with all my meals.

In any place I go if there is no bread foreseen, I ask for it, never been a problem ,not always fresh, can be roasted, but usually free.

.

As a Flemish Belgian myself you're the only person I've ever heard of who eats bread with all his meals.

Im actually writing this review as i am sitting in the restaurant having polished off a half rack of Tennessee ribs. First off the restaurant has a nice feel,is well laid out and the seats are comfy. The staff are friendly pointing out the special and also the wifi password. Now onto the main event the food. Having a large appetite I was dubious about ordering a half rack but it was plenty! Now im no Gordon Ramsey or a restaurant critic but I am fairly well travelled and have dined at some well known establishments. The ribs were well presented on their own plate with a salad garnish and a small ramekin of sauce. They were perfectly cooked and the sauce was well balanced and not too sweet. They were succullent and tender and i could have easily finished a whole rack. The coleslaw was crispy and fresh and not smothered in mayonaise; the french fries were hot and crispy and again i could easily have eaten more. I forgot to mention the complimentary tortilla chips and tomato and onion salad while browsing the menu which was a nice touch.

The service was friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive. I have to say first impressions are really good and someone has clearly put a lot of thought into this restaurant. Really nice food and i will be back.

Since someone mentioned breakfast, I'm curious if they are still moving forward with the plan for an American style bacon offering.

I can see this sort of thing making Smokin Joe's a destination for Yanks looking for breakfast.

If they do breakfast, a few Mexican breakfast dishes would be very cool to see --

Huevos Rancheros, rice and refried beans

Machaca (shredded beef) con huevos, rice and refried beans

(served of course with the mandatory corn tortillas and salsa)

Don't make it complicated. There is no need.

Over and over I see guys post that they are looking for crispy American Style bacon. China was talking about curing and smoking his own pork belly to slice as bacon. Offering that would be a unique item in Pattaya, and would be a feature lure for Americans.

Could do both as doesn't Smokin' Joes have a Mexican chef? Why not exploit that talent to the max?
