Christmas Dinner Options 2016

If you intend on having Christmas dinner in Pattaya, you best  make your reservations soon, especially if you're planning on eating at one of the more popular restaurants/bars.  I read today on the Facebook page of Nicky's on Soi Bukhao that only 20 places were left for Dec. 25th.

Prices range from 550 baht to 2,500 baht or more, depending on how fancy the place is, how many courses the meal includes and exactly what's on the menu. Several  of the better known U.K.-style  restaurants/bars have prices around 1,200 baht.  But there are places with menus under 1,000 baht, including Sutus Court, Golden Ferret, Jolly's, etc.

To begin with, menus for Dec. 24th and 25th at Casa Pascal off 2nd Road across from Royal Garden Plaza:

I find most of these prices to be quite high for what's on offer. I think I shall be going to Bangkok for my festive meal, though probably not on the 24th/25th.

I was thinking yesterday, when I saw the BiteMe Xmas offering in their thread, that it would be good to have a thread with the various options.

Thanks Evil :-)

I was planning on looking around when I arrive on the 12th to see what's available.

Hope kind BM's continue to post ;-)

Now, anyone in Jomtien care to check offerings at P&W and others?

One question, unless I'm being particularly stupid (even for me) I can't see what restaurants the first 2 menus are from?

Not likely to pay that anyway, but would be nice to know :-)

The first two menus are for Casa Pascal.  I edited the OP to add that information.

Thanks.

That actually makes the lunch one an option to consider alongside BiteMe.

I had a top notch evening meal at Casa Pascal last trip - though the between course 'extras' meant I ended up completely stuffed!

Does anyone know if there is a restaurant in Pattaya that offers a bowl of gruel as its Christmas dinner?  Seems like there would be a lot of demand for it

You said in another topic that Boat Restaurant had awful beef & noodle soup, maybe they will jazz it up with a festive sprig of holly for Christmas ?

For reasons I probably shouldn't explain in detail, I found your post hilarious.  There's definitely a strong connection between Pattaya's leading Scrooge and the Boat Bakery.  So it is very possible the Boat's beef noodle soup is the new gruel.     :HaHaHa1:

I don't want to gab or someone will flame me. And I'm trying to be Santa Penevil rather than Krampus.

To something different:  The Hard Rock was mentioned via a link in one of your earlier posts ( ), but HR deserves more prominent mention.

The HR's buffet isn't cheap, but considering it includes a free flow of booze, it's a pretty good price, plus the menu options are good.  A lot of places with more limited buffets or set meals are coming in around 1,200 baht.

Only downside is that trying to get to the buffet tables will be like the Battle of Stalingrad if Russian or Chinese groups are eating there.

Call me a gruel-eating Scrooge if you like, but 650-1200 baht is the price range for similar Christmas meals in restaurants and 4/5 star hotels around here (outside of Christmas Day itself).

I don't think it's unreasonable to be reluctant to pay more than that in Pattaya, where wages, utilities etc are so much lower.

The Christmas Day holiday pay bonus hardly applies in Thailand either.

I know turkey is more expensive and some other things can be difficult to source, but still!

I have to agree with you but the Hard Rock deal at 1389 baht is a winner because you can eat and drink all the booze you want in a very nice surrounding.

Most of the others offer far less but for near the price, only a set meal and no or little drinks.

The Jameson's deal is particularly crap though

All you can eat it but doesn't even have turkey at the moment and at 1250 + 10% service with only tea or coffee it offers no booze and its just an out of the way pub.

As we look at Christmas is a time of eating far to much and getting hammered I think a highly successful formula would be loads of food as in eat all you want and Christmas specials on wines, imported brandies and liqueurs.

Make lowish profits on the food and expect to make your margins on the booze - pitch at 899 baht and include a welcoming glass of alcoholic punch to get people in the mood for booze prior to their meal and have the waiting staff push the wines + include unlimited coffee afterwards with the waiting staff pushing the brandy and liqueurs.

We tend to look at  headline prices and if we think they are good are prepared to spend more once inside, or can easily be pursued to.

+++ as Christmas Day falls on a Sunday

A lot of the restaurants offering a Xmas dinner normally do a Sunday roast

So really most are just offering Turkey as an option adding on mince pies/ Xmas pudding at 2-3 times the normal price.

I doubt very much any of the Thai staff get extra Baht for working Christmas Day .

I'll have to leave booking until the week before as I'll be having Christmas Dinner with a friend so will need to wait until he gets there on the 17th to discuss options. Unlikely to be Hard Rock as he doesn't drink and will want to eat in the afternoon.

I'm booked to go to Bangkok on Boxing Day morning so better not get too hammered myself ;-)

I wouldn't be surprised if this one (995 baht) is already booked solid:

Great thread; any idea if the Beefeater is doing one?

I've e-mailed them but they haven't answered.

You're here now where you should have been all along.
