Yes I'm surprised you haven't closed it

It's about Pattaya baht busses... ??? Even if it's Obama's fault it's still PA related :-)

In the UK we don't charge different prices for using the bus or train if black or Asian or from another country. We also don't charge different prices for food and drink. Maybe in Canada that's acceptable.

Actually you do at golf courses and you certainly have local prices for certain attractions.

You want to do it or you want me to?

Secondly, baht busses are not public transport. They are simply not. They are independent contractors who can charge what they want, for the routes they are taking.

Third,I have never been charged more than a Thai for food and drink and if I was,it certainly wasn't known to me.

Go and do some homework before you come back on here.

It's not good.

Good question. I raised this point earlier.

Looked on Thai Visa and couldn't see a reference to it.

Changes on Beach Road.....rental motor bikes....blue bikes etc....

Even if it has the green light. I can't see 10 baht as an issue.

It's fine by me.

Guess again is this new duel pricing is a recipe for disaster as I cant wait to see all the local news outlets covering arguments that could turn into brawls with songthaew divers and falang tight wads who especially don't speak any English (mostly Russians and Chinese that I have seen) who will think that the THAIS are trying to fuck them over demanding an extra 10 bhat without knowing beforehand that the price increased. If Thais have any common sense which we all know they don't they will provide the new fairs posted on the bhat buses translated in Russian, Chinese and English which will make things more understandable for the commuter but again as Thais like to think outside the box it will never happen.

Those buses are so valuable to me, for getting home at night, safely!

I would have no probs if they increased the price, lets say after midnight, for the pissheads like my good self.

Keep the 10b during the day for everyone, 50b after midnight for the tourists.

That way, it won't affect the families with kids who might use them a lot for short journeys.

Anyone who thinks dual pricing is acceptable because of what you look like are completely ting tong. Been drinking too much or the heat or something. And no, golf is a shit example to throw back.

Dual pricing based on someones weight and how much room they are taking up would be perfectly acceptable. Bring it on.

Public transport and food and beverage is a shit example. One of which I have never paid for in Thailand, more than Thai people.

Independent contractors that "belong " to an association can control what they can charge.

If you don't want to pay, simply don't use them.

About your size and weight comparison, whenever I have gotten on a baht bus with golf clubs,or luggage,i pay for another person regardless of how full the bus is.

You can argue all you want, but the fact of the matter is,almost every Country has some sort of system in place to give the local people of that area, incentive to use the service.

Golf,Disneyland,Whale watching tours....and many other business's that are not Goverment operated.

Pay your 20 and go practise your chipping, cause you're 2 over in this thread alone.

Fuck knows where you will end up if you don't Right the ship.

I don't approve of this measure and I think it is illegal too (under Thai consumer law).

LOL, not sure though what is funnier, i.e., that you don't approve or that you mentioned illegal under Thai consumer law.

I don't approve of his disapproval under normal common sense guidelines.

We'll just have to disagree, but you are more wrong than ever before.

One thing we do agree on is someone taking up more space should pay more. I hope fat falang pay more, so if you are fat 20 baht for you and 10 for clubs so 30 baht. New pricing, falang clubs so 60 baht (3x20)

Think that is amazing that you have a one price for all. In Australia we have different prices based on age (pensioners and students including university students) and time of travel (peak and non peak). Must admit I am surprised as I thought our system was similar to yours in fees.

I think its not fair too. Poor people should be allowed to eat at aircon restaurants at cheap or subsidised prices. After all , we rich folks are allowed in while the poor folks have to pay our prices.

Yes, they are public transport. They may be independent contractors but they are regulated by the local government cannot just charge what they want on their designated routes. If that was true then there would have been no need for them to get approval for the change in rates.

You should Google before telling someone to Google

Straight from Google:

Public transport (also known as public transportation, public transit, or mass transit) is a shared passenger-transport service which is available for use by the general public, as distinct from modes such as taxicab, carpooling, or hired buses, which are not shared by strangers without private arrangement.

Maybe you can't read but i said we don't charge people different prices if they are black, asian or from another country. Unlike in Thailand, if farang i.e white generally, you pay more

Students paying less than adults makes sense, OAPs getting free bus passes makes some sense. Using a golf example which Skalli loves doing always. Over 65s or similar paying less for golf membership is a strange one when the majority of them will probably have paid off mortgages and have little outgoings.

But discriminating because of nationality / colour is basically wrong. I think I've repeated that three times, i can't say it any other way. I'm out.

I use it because it's the one I come up against the most.

Locals rates/tourist rates.

Nothing racist in that, nothing racist in the baht bus dealio.

I think people get confused over what racism is. Must admit I can't see how anyone could think it was.

Not as much confusion as a whole generation has been indoctrinated into racism is abnormal. It's laughable, humans are hard-wired to have a preference for their own race. Thai Rak Thai isn't racism but rather normal behavior.

Socialism has a lot to answer for.

Bless the Thais for having the balls to put their interests first.
