Jim's Burger Near Big C North

Tried it about a month ago. Excellent burgers and a nice rotating selection of beers. The location wasn't too hard to find but you are correct in saying it may be a problem. Headed to Pattaya for the weekend so may try to get back. Don't think many barfines would enjoy it though I could be wrong.

Fantastic review as always Evil, cheers.

It's a bit of an out of the way location for me, but I'll certainly give it a go when I'm next in town, the food and drinks look great.

I made a follow-up visit to Jim's to try the Lava Cheesy Burger, which promises triple the cheese of an ordinary cheeseburger.  I chose the small version at 210 baht.  The large goes for 290 baht.

I ordered it on a traditional bun and it came with the usual side of a sampler portion of waffle fries.

The buns at Jim's are homemade and fresh, which in fact adds to the overall burger experience. The Lava burger also came with Jim's signature garnish, a golden fried onion ring.

The bun was perfectly toasted.  Like Baby Bear's porridge in Goldilocks, it was "just right."

I'm not sure it was triple the amount of cheese on my burger- I'd have pegged it at about double.  But no doubt, it dripped with plenty of lovely melted cheese.

The quality of the ingredients as well as the  attention to detail is what makes Jim's burgers stand out in a crowded field.  Some thought has gone into the construction of the various burgers. It's not just a bunch of stuff thrown together, but each component ingredient adds to the overall effect.

In the Lava burger, the meat patty and cheese are the dominant flavors, and rightfully so.  But the modest amount of veggies has a supporting role to play.  The tomato slice and dill pickles add tartness and the lettuce leaf provide a bit of crunch.  I'm not a fan of raw onion, but the two small rings gave the burger a bit of a kick.

I had a half-pint of Singha draft (120 baht abv 5.0%) along with the burger.  It's not the most interesting beer in the world, but it has good carbonation and a light taste, so it goes well with a burger.

After the burger, I also had a glass of La Trappe, a Dutch wheat beer at 165 baht (abv 5.0%).  It was easy to drink. with slight hints of citrus and spice.  It's a refreshing hot-weather beer.

The outdoor seating area at Jim's and the basketball cage.

The staff at Jim's Burger is very friendly.  You can look right into the kitchen, which is always a good thing.

If anyone needs a landmark, Jim's is diagonally across the street from Differ, a Thai nightspot.

I've been to Jim's Burger a few times now.  I love the food there, but have two mild issues.  The first is that the bottom bun seem to get inordinately soggy very quickly, so I end up with a lot of sauce on my hands.   The other is that I would like to see some additional burger options, or maybe add ons.

A definite plus for me are the sides; I started with the tater tots since you can never go wrong with those, but now I keep getting the onion rings.

Went here the last night of my latest trip and had a small Twin Head Dragon ( 290 B), Ceasar Bacon Salad (190 B), & 2 Holgate Norton lagers, large & small respectively ( 240 & 160 B), and can concur that it was absolutely outstanding ;), the salad would be a meal for those with smaller appetites & the quality of the burger was excellent, especially the beef. Location wise it may help if you know that end of patts & I have no doubt that if it were in a more 'open' location the place would be mega busy from open to close. When century 21 opens I can see this happening here, this is really good food & is on the list for a visit next trip, so locals support Jim & his burgers & count yourself lucky you are so close whereas some of us only get there once or twice a year

Glory! .. glory!

Evil's review nails it dead on .. burgers over which any red-blooded American would be proud to suffer a massive coronary.  A best in class contender for premium burgers.

Do you get a fork and knife or are you supposed to eat with your hands? My dinner companion has braces and must eat with fork and knife.

    • Hi Guys

As many of you know we have been running now for 16 years and apart from one brief time when we were allowed PayPal, so could use the inbuilt donation function, we have tried to avoid asking for donations. We have certainly avoided being in anyones face about it.

      Sadly that has now changed.

The forum currently costs around $900 a month to operate. That includes Bangkok and Philippines but PA makes up the vast majority of it. This fee covers forum hosting, image hosting, notification emails and support.

Before anyone says "its expensive" please be aware we have tried for years to find better for cheaper - it just doesn't exist for the size we are. Also a lot of hosts wont Touch us anyway. Our current host is actually cheaper than the previous one but that brings its own problems.

      Moving on -

I would like to stress there is NO obligation whatsoever. Also, whatever happens the forum is going no-where!

Donators can CHOOSE to have their donation listed (probably in this thread or we can make a new one) or to remain anonymous. Likewise they can CHOOSE whether the amount is published or not.

There is no minimum, or maximum for that matter. ANY donation will be very gratefully received. We are very aware that many members are also having it tough these days.

We are still unable to promote/post PayPal addresses etc on the forum so would ask that anyone who would like to make a donation to PM me, or ask me here to PM you and we will sort out details via that PM.
