Ate there today at 5pm. Had a dish with pork-salad and rice. Very tasteful indeed. Will be back for sure.

Yes,staying away from carbs is the key to losing weight fast.I am quit fit,and have low body fat,but when Im here in Pattaya,I don't exercise daily,or super hard.I only eat twice a day.....sometimes only once,if I have been drinking very much the day before. If I have breakfast, its usually contains some vegetables, chicken breast and maybe some eggs.I drink some water and a couple of coffees.

Is that a Chicken caesar ?? Hard to tell ..

I know this is a White Pines thread, so apologies to the lovely people there .. but

..there's some seriously healthy food at Easy Health on 3rd Road if you're on that agenda . They open at 10 am , so not a conflict for lunch or brunch :) .

Tried to go to White Pines twice for lunch , once at 1pm , to find they didn't open until 2 pm ( back then ) , and once on a Tuesday, at 2 pm , to find its there day off !

Until I found Easy Health , Wooden Box was my " go to " , for a healthy lunch.

Cheers for the reply ..never occurred to me that Walking St , walking distance was a priority, but , I get it .
Lunch was my concern , which makes Walking St a non-event.

In a general 'where to eat' thread you're right, but this is a thread specifically about White Pines and one of its attractions is that it's in the heart of WS.

Thank you for your directive ..

You may ..or may not have noticed that in my initial post, I acknowledged that very thing, and quoted my Desire to eat at White Pines, and documented my 2 attempts to dine there ..

My apologies to you for taking this thread just a " tiny bit " off topic . Carry on the good work !

serves you right for not ordering the meat lasagna, which is great :)

I got around to trying the meat lasagna. It was definitely better than the spinach lasagna but I wouldn't call it great. The pasta was too mushy and the creamy cheese sauce topping was kind of odd. It was also very bland. I'm happy I tried it once but wouldn't order it again. I'm pretty sure most Italians would be horrified by it.

I had Italian restaurants with Beverly hills chefs, my lasagna was way better and way more expensive.  Saying that, I like this lasagna, had it a few days ago again, different but good, but almost every place I go it is different. Nothing to write home about but tasty and cheap.

My Italian friends, and I have a lot of them, all tell me lasagna is not high up on an Italians dinner list.  Pasta is

my only two complaints there is the pesto needs more basil to it, and the tomato pasta, I think it was pomodoro, wasn't tasty, cabinara was good

I think we would agree that what really matters the most is if something tastes good, whatever it is, and being authentic is a separate matter. Of course it's not an authentic Italian lasagna. You like it better than me. That's basically it. I was kind of joking about Italians because they're kind of famous for not being tolerant of bastardization of their cuisine.

BTW, I had a more traditional lasagna the other day at Pizzaart in Jomtien. I didn't much like that either.

I'm tempted to try La Taverna's Jomtien lasagna which a reviewer on TA raved about, but egads, it's 390 baht:

I was looking for a great portion of lasagna and I found it here. The lasagna was prepared and cooked to perfection with good and tasty fillings along with a large amount of cheeses. The service was impeccable while always within earshot far enough away not to be annoying. I'll be back as their lasagna is the best. Next time I'll have to try their minestrone soup.

On White Pine's pesto, I recall a waitress telling me that one is not made in house which isn't really surprising.

Today i tried white pines for the first time.

Calamari: great taste with alot of garlic

Caesar salad:very delicious with the softest chicken. They need to mix luttuce with more caesar sauce
Pasta bolognese: taste is good. Portion is tiny with So little parmesan .

Finally very quality food with reasonablen
prices but u need to change your reciepe of garlic bread.no taste of garlic and very bad margarine taste on the bread. Your calamari is full of garlic that tastes fantastic but your garlic bread does not taste garlic.

White pines is great food, great prices...

The Filipina was interested in me where I was from, but I didn't pursue her because Thai girls are sexier ....and i don't wanna shit where I eat ...

Anyone else sense tension between the Thai staff and the pinay waitress?

It's ok to gossip on here.... as I said before great food great value... but being as the restaraunt is so small you can really feel tension between the staff...sexual tension too!!! Lollllll

agreed, the only thing I dont like about him is he always sits out front and opens the door for me, makes me feel so old.  sometimes I go in real quick to open myself but he is fast and ready

Yes, and s/he has never 'hit' on me :)

In regards to the restaurant and food, it's excellent for pre-WS gogo bar hopping, quiet enough for a conversation and as a late night appetite suppressant. The value is there, the portions are sufficient (if really hungry i order multiple items), the location is perfect and the staff provides prompt and respective service.

My friends and i were wondering if it becomes 'busy' will they raise the prices... (no need to start another price thread :)

Only negative is having to remember the Tuesday closing and WiFi and my cellphone Data service do not seem to work well in there - both DTAC and AIS.

I've eaten at WP many many times and never noticed any sort of tension between the staff. The Filipino girl is always friendly and I have never thought she was interested in me. I think she is just being friendly. She always greets me by name and ask how things are going.

The current staff I most recently saw there was a male server, ladyboy server, Filipino (cashier), and and older Thai woman. When the LB first started working, she very rarely said anything to me and the male still has not said anything. I'm not sure he can speak English. The older lady is rather terse in her interactions with me.  The cook, Som, has always been extremely friendly to me, taking time to come say hello if she's not too busy.

In general, I think the staff are more relaxed when Felicia (the boss) is not there. Though because of her other obligations to other restaurants, she isn't there that much these days. If there is tension between the Filipino and the rest of the staff, it could be because she is close friends with Felicia, and they might want to distance themselves from the friend of the boss. Another cause might be because the Filipino does not speak Thai all that well.
