White Pines

I went to White Pines last night and ordered my usual. I just can't get enough of the calamari. However, my guest ordered something different, Tom Yum Koong Fried Rice. Wow, it was really good! The taste of Tum Yum Koong but as a fried rice. I talked to the cook and she recommended I try the Penang Fried Rice next, which I'm anxious to do. Very innovative cook at White Pines.

I have eaten at White Pines several times and tried a number of different tasty dishes on the menu.

bottom line: Good food for a good price.

Recommended.

I also tried the Tom Yum fried rice in July and it was as you said very nice. Ate there a few times with the Girlfriend and we both enjoyed it.

Finally made it into White Pines last night, after reading all of the positive reviews. Hey not bad at all and glad I went. Like others have said it is a very nice hole in the wall with more than decent cheap eats. I had the Red Snapper sandwich and it was pretty good after I added a little hot sauce.

Went for lunch the other day. But they don't open until 2 pm.. Backtracked to Wooden Box for an amazing salad so, no regrets.. But, I will give it another shot. Now I know the schedule.

It is a great place to eat and relax.

The staff are friendly and polite.

Sadly this is my last week in town and I hope White Pines is still around when I return next year.

What kind of sauce is it with fish sandwich?

Tar-tar, remolaude or pure majo.

I believe it is tartar. I opted to use a little of the hot sauce on the sandwich and that was quite good.

I tried their beef with oyster sauce for the first time. That's usually a boring stir fry dish in typical Thai restaurants with low grade beef.

I was pleasantly surprised with the WP version.

The beef is strips of decent enough beef steak that are grilled medium rare served over some green vegetables with the sauce of course. More like a fusion dish than Thai or Chinese. Add rice about 150 baht.

I go mostly for their calamari appetizer which I'm addicted to so always looking for good second dishes there. I like to eat pizza elsewhere and not into burgers.

I continue to be impressed by this place. I so liked the Fish Sandwich that I had to force myself to branch out. I had the Khao Phat Goon with a Giant Prawn. Very good. Not oily at all and everything very fresh. They have three levels of spicy on the Thai food. I tried level 1 for a starter and it was good. I'll probably go for level 2 next time. I am some one who enjoys some heat.

I agree they have some excellent dishes but also some dogs.

Like the spinach lasagna tasted like airline food and the chicken wing dish was greasy and bland.

But the prices are friendly and it's worth the effort to sample the menu to find dishes you like there, because most people will.

White Pines has excellent food and is good value for money. One of the waitresses, I think the cashier, is a Pinay.

Just discovered this thread, currently in town for a month so will certainly give this place a try after reading the positive reviews on here.

For Italian, you need to get over to Gian's, if you have not. Yes, a lot more expensive, but worth the price for once in a while.

You could probably request a special order for that. They have it for their pasta.
