Places to eat on the Darkside

If you are in the mood for a light meal, try the little Thai place on Noen Plab Wan, directly across from the Sawang Boriboon school, sorry I don't know the name, but it's a little blue and white place, delicious beef/pork or salmon steaks 3 different sauces to choose from; peppercorn, mushroom or teryaki with a side of fries and a small salad. The portions are on the small side but at 89 baht a plate you can't go wrong.

That looks to be opposite the Muslim school - there is a blue and white one opposite the Sawang Boriboon School (chinese one) about 100 yards further up.

I wasn't familiar with the Sawang Boriboon School name so did a Google search and the map location that popped up is opposite the food stand in the pic I posted. Your Street View shot looks a lot more like the description "little blue and white place".

Used to go to Casual bar a lot before it became the Welcome inn. Really must get round to trying it out. Unfortunately we preferred Kung and Pinkys so stopped going there.I have a fairly long list of places I want to try so may be a while yet.

Well gents stopped into the Loft today to watch the last 1/2 of the Rugby. Ordered a Sangsom & Soda as was all beered out. Got the bill & the price was 90 baht. Yes its aircon but so are another couple of other bars up the road that sell the same drink for 50 baht, unfortunately they are closed till the 16 of next month.

Couple of guys had the food where not overly impressed. I mean come on you pay 290 baht for a big bottle so at 90 baht a shot that is quiet a mark up. Other booze seemed reasonable slightly more than some of the bars & restaurants but not overly crazy. I for one will not be going back same for most  of the dozen or so guys watching the rugby there. just to many other places to choose from .

This weekend I ate at the Thai restaurant on Nern Plab Wan just across the street from Honey Pot and 8 Ball, it's called "Krua Khun Fern",   Very delicious Thai and Chinese food, clean place,   fair pricing and good size portions.  This place just became my favorite DS Thai  place to eat.  And all their menus are in Thai and English with photos of the food.

I found a nice inexpensive steak restaurant last night on Soi Nern Plab Wan, about 50 meters west of the 7-11 near the Aqua Deymie intersection, it's called Chok Dee Steak, opens in the evening after 4pm, closed on Wednesdays, basic plastic chairs and inexpensive tables but the food makes up for the standard basic Thai street furniture.

We ordered a pork chop for 109 baht, it was a little tough and I won't be ordering it again, and we also ordered the Mexican pork steak, and it was fantastic and only 89 baht, both came with fries or rice and a nice apple salad, water 10 baht, Big Leo 80 baht and Chang 70 baht but they were out of both (so I hopped over to the nearby 7-11 and bought a Leo.  Nice meal at a good price.

The google street view only shows the location,  not the actual restaurant as the street view is outdated.

Correction to my above post about Chok Dee Steak; the prices are for small Leo or Chang, not big..
