Bites Restaurant Soi Excite

Recommended Posts

Straight opposite Continental Bakery on soi excite is a cheap yet very good restaurant called Bites. Having been to Continental Bakery on soi excite many times I often saw wondered what the food was like.

Decided to try it and was pleasantly surprised. I had the spaghetti with garlic bread. Overall awesome cheap meal and a large serving of spaghetti. Garlic bread was like big garlic bread croutons though so for those who don't like that best to not get them although I found them very tasty.

Recommended.

Note: chatted to 2 blokes there that go there a lot for their thai dishes and rave about them.

Friend of mine went there recently and said the spaghetti was now 100 baht.

Thanks I often forget the prices so thought when I find a good place I will take a pic of the bill to refresh my memory from now on.

Yep, great place, the chicken cashew nut is off the charts, and the fried vegetables in oyster sauce is top quality with fresh veggies.

The lady running it is a great cook, but very very slow. It has got to the stage where if there are other customers there without food when I arrive, I go elsewhere, as the wait can be epic.

I think the comments about it taking awhile to get the food are actually encouraging. Slow usually equals good.

Have to give it a try.

Staying at Canterbury Tales the last two trips I found myself eating there quite a few times.

No complaints from me. I'll certainly eat at the place again. Good value.

Well perhaps they had to go catch the chicken, which understandably didn't fancy pride-of-place, on the plate ?  :SoWhat1:

Thanks to the OP for the tip, will try it out, when I'm down there, later this month.

Had the fried chicken with vegetables today at Bites. Chicken wasn't out of the ordinary but the large plate of perfectly cooked al dente mixed vegetables was exceptional in texture and taste. For 80 baht it's a bargain.

Can vouch for this place. Simple but fresh fare. Reasonably priced and cooked by Mama. Will definately repeat.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a really nice meal. Generous portions and cheap. I would definitely come back. I also ordered spring rolls and they were great. I was the only one in the restaurant to order and it took 25 min to get it all. It seems the cook can only cook one thing at a time. People next and behind me will wait a long time I bet as they walked in right after I did.

One couple next to me got their salad and soup 10 min after me. The other person behind me hasnt gotten anything and we all ordered within 5 min of each other. He has been waiting 40 min. So there you go on how fast they make their dishes. Well worth the wait in my opinion. Chicken cashew 100b add rice 10b water 20b 6-spring rolls 60b for 190 out the door and I could not finish it all....and I can eat!

Ate at Bites twice this month, slow service (and forgot the spring-rolls, but apologised sweetly) but tasty & good-value, will go again next trip.

Looks great but I can't be doing with waiting that long for my grub.

Seems to be the overriding issue here.

You're here now where you should have been all along.

Yeah a lot of people like to get there food in a few minutes but I don't mind wating 10 to 20 minutes while I chill and watch the world going by for them to cook it up fresh. Waiting 40 if they are busy and I am starving would not be a goer for me but I would just walk across the soi to Continental Bakery if that was the case.
