Kai Bae Beech - Koh Chang

I'm going back to Pattaya in December but I'm thinking of heading down to Koh Chang for a few days while I'm there. I have a friend here in the UK who will be there and as I've not seen him for a while I fancy popping down to say hello. I'll probably be taking a lady I met on my last trip with me and it will only be for 3 or 4 nights.

He's told me he'll be staying at Kai Bae Beech and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for accommodation. I'm not loaded, so something for around £25 a night would be pretty much my limit as I've already paid for my Pattaya hotel.

Any ideas welcome. I've had a look on Agoda, but thought I'd ask here too. I've also looked online and seen the cost of a taxi is almost 4000 baht! I've also seen options to go by coach for 400 baht per person. Would I be be better off waiting until I'm in Pattaya before booking the travel, and maybe even the hotel?

Failing that, I'll just go to Ko Samet as it's much closer to Pattaya and I hate long journeys. I'll have to then make my apologies to my friend lol

Thanks in advance :)

I stayed last year at The Stage, nice hotel at a good price. Nice little resturant around the corner.

They also have motorbike rental that we used.

Thanks for the reply :)

Looks quite nice that, I'll certainly give it some thought!

I always stay on White beach, but I take the mini buses which I organise in Pattaya. I know people don't like mini buses but I've never had any problems

I lived in La Luna guest house. Nearby central road. Also near evening buffet, bars with girls and near small night clubs. 700/900 THB (first/second floor). Rooms with air conditioning, a bathroom and with a big beautiful bed of wood.

The Seabreeze hotel was a good deal. Low price and good rooms.

But that was back in 1990.

In Nov 2013 I stayed a bit further south past Bailan Beach at the Mecure  Hideaway.

I got an Agoda deal on a nice poolside room for about $65 AUD a night for 3 nights which was usually $100+.

Depends on the season I guess.
