In June I stayed in the Rembrandt hotel. Here there are some Pics und comments:

REMBRANDT hotel

http://www.rembrandtbkk.com/

Tel.: +66 0 2261 7100

Adress: 19 Sukhumvit Soi 18, Sukhumvit Road, Klong-Toei, Bangkok 10110

The really big hotel with a lot of facilities is old but still in a very good shape. I payed round about 50,00 Euro per Night in a double room.
NO JOINER FEE.

In the past I always stayed in the Soi 11 area and this time I wanted to change the Location.

The Soi 18 is a quiet street with some hotels, Restaurants, massage options and a 7/11.
From hotel to Sukhumvit = 5 Minute walk
From hotel to Soi Cowboy = 10 Minute walk

I can recommend this hotel and would stay here again !

My standard room was very big, clean and had all facilities you need.

Even the Bathroom was very clean.

The Matress not to hard and not to soft.

Thanks for this info, I've walked past the Rembrandt hotel many times, and it looks great. However, on the Bangkok Addicts site, there is a thread saying it is not girl friendly. Does it maybe depend on who is working behind reception at any given time? If this is the case, anyone know of a similar type of hotel on Soi 18 or 20, that is definitely girl friendly?

Maybe. My experience is: No Joiner Fee.

If that's not safe enough, you probably can contact the hotel by E-Mail and ask them...

We stayed there a few months back and not guest friendly.

hotel burger is crap...

hotel restaurants are ok

Rooms are clean and nice

There is burger and bangers.. best burger in Bangkok which is 3 mins walking distance from hotel

It is at a good location but not guest friendly. Mainly families with kids stay..

I had to hear babies crying all night so sound insulation is not great

On tripadvisor, I left them a few reviews

Maybe the OP was lucky and staff did nothing, but this is their "official policy":

Dear Mr.,

Please be informed that the additional charge for joiner is THB 1,000.- net per person per night as per our official policy.

Best regards,

Parichat C. (Ms.)

Reservation Supervisor

Was this hotel named after the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn?
