Can Dr's at clinic prescribe meds?

Specifically I am looking for Pramipexole.

Which is for Parkinson's disease and restless leg syndrome. ..

It is classed as .... S = Special Controlled Drug (ยาควบคุมพิเศษ)

A first grade pharmacist shall be on duty at the premises selling modern drugs. Sale to public is on prescription only. Daily purchase and sale record required.

I just do not want to spend time at the hospital waiting for doctor.

Another question .... how does one go about seeing a doc at a hospital?

Just walk in to Emergency? (That's how it's done in USA)

... I took GF to Banglamung hospital last year for some meds ...

She just walked in to LARGE waiting area ... checked in and waited. ..

Saw doc after a couple hours .... got meds

I have no problem with this hospital ... just need a script ...

But ... back to original question...

Can docs at these small clinics write scripts?

That would be so much easier ...

Thanks all

You  would not walk into an Emergency unless it is an emergency.. You register , tell them your problem, are given a number  and wait to see your number come up. I assume you are taken to see a Doc appropriate for your complaint.

I went to Banglamung Hospital in 2012 to get some X-rays and after being told I would have to wait about an hour, it was about 4 hours before I saw the Doctor. There are shops and cafes to  help pass the time.

However it cost me just 200 baht to see the Doctor who ordered the X-Rays and 600 baht for 4 X-Rays. I was given prints and a CD.

Now Government hospitals charge Farangs more than Thais.

I should take less time now at Banglamung as there is the new Pattaya City Hospital in Soi Bukaow  to share the load.

Sorry cannot answer your original question but would think they can if they are a properly qualified doctor. I believe many of them are not, even if they call themselves doctor.

Sex without love is an empty experience;

But as empty experiences go, it is one of the best.

I think that is fair .. charging Farangs more than Thais for medical services.

I am more than happy to help subsidize the medical care of the Thai people.

Thank you for the info about Pattaya City Hospital.

I did not know about that place.

I am assuming that it is another government hospital (I do not need private hospital care or service)

Thank you

Only by people who abuse the system, either by necessity or by choice. One is supposed to have a primary care physician and only use the Emergency Room for it's intended purpose...emergencies. For those in a hurry, prompt non-emergent care is available at private "urgent care", ie walk in clinics.

In fact the US Govt has a fine for citizens who haven't signed up for a health care plan. Most health plans have a 24/7 medical advice line where one can get advice as to what to do with a health problem.

Its usually by necessity (source .. I worked in the U of Iowa Hospitals Emergency room for 10 years) ... so not  abusing the system.

The heath care system is fucked in the USA .. and I wish they would have just gone to a single payer system instead of selling out to the insurance companies.  The USA NEEDS more preventive care and clinics people can go to FOR FREE to deal with the aches and pains, coughs and scratches.

Anyway ... as it ended up .. I went to Pattaya City Hospital on Soi Buakhao.  Actually a pretty nice system they have ... it would be nice if the USA hospitals had some type of triage like this.  Perhaps some do.  I saw a doctor with in about 2 hours.  Not bad, I brought a book to read.

They did not carry the meds I needed .. so the doctor canceled my visit and I was charged NOTHING !!!!

very cool

Doc told me I would nee to go to a private hospital.

So, I went to the Pattaya branch of Bangkok hospital.  Nice place .. and had the meds.

Doctors consultation was about 800 baht ... I don't remember exactly.

BUT< the meds were EXPENSIVE ... 15,000 baht for 180 pills.  I take 4 a day, so a month's supply.

I can get them MUCH cheaper on the web.  6000 baht for a 3 month supply via web.  Can't ship to Thailand though.  So, I have to ship to USA and have friends repackage them and send them onward via regular mail.

so, now I know :-)
