Nice video review - thanks for posting!

One thing I would add/correct - he mentions getting IHG points for staying there, but (I think) he also says that he got a great rate on a booking website.  Generally speaking, if you use Agoda, Bookings.com, Priceline, etc., I think that you do NOT earn hotel reward points.

Not that it makes a difference, but, if the rates are comparable/close and you want the IHG points, it is probably better to book it via their website.

If the other non-IHG booking website is cheaper, you can always try their Best Price Guarantee and earn even more points.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express - Pattaya Central a month ago.

I think it is very good value for money, and I recommend this hotel.

Youtube vlogger Big Fat Besty did an outstanding detailed review of this hotel:

Nice video indeed, thanks.

It shows the pool area is small and, with 6 sun beds only, it can be easily crowded. What makes me wonder....if i stay there and the pool is full, is there another hotel with a nice pool, available for non-guests?

I have booked a refundable stay here on the first week of November.. just worried if the room is too small.. Will it be ok for bringing back two girls? My other option is staying at the holiday inn, but that's 3 times the price of this hotel (~3000thb vs 1000thb) I appreaciate any comments from members who have stayed here :) Thanks.

Staying there atm, the rooms are small, but well designed, however the bathroom is absolutely puny and a deal breaker for me, also no screen on the shower so bathroom ends up getting wet.

One of the most comfortable beds I've experienced in Pattaya, however walls very thin and I'm hearing doors opening and closing consistently every 5-10 minutes or so, this is after midnight and even at 6 am, very popular with Indians.

That's a big deal breaker for me -- I don't know know why, but water on the bathroom floor REALLY bugs me!

It doesn't sound like it's at that level, but "Thai style" bathrooms are a complete "no go" for me.

This is seriously one noisy hotel, noise coming from everywhere; rooms next door, the corridor, other bathrooms and even kitchen downstairs!

with the piling done the work site is currently completely  empty

work could start again next week next month or next year, it's sometimes hard to know in pattaya

Mind boggling how they spend tens of millions (of real money, not baht) building these hotels and then totally spoil it with substandard soundproofing or a shitty little pool.

Been here recently.

Pro

  • Nice design
  • Decent breakfast
  • Very good beds, not Queen size, but enough for 2.
  • Walking distance from LK Metro
  • Reception will call you to confirm you are ok when the guest leave
  • Nice TV

Cons

  • Bathroom with no door, after shower there is a puddle even if you pay attention.
  • Getting there with bathbus from WS is hell. Either walk the last km or haggle for a ticktok to take you there ( fuck bike taxi, you want fuck, not get in the hospital )

I booked with Agoda, but for extension i found it slightly cheaper to book with IHG app.

well they are at work already. the noisy piling was done the old fashioned way...........whack a mole style. yesterday they were putting in steel shutters so that the basement area/car park etc can be dug out using a more friendly system ...................

i've never seen one of these being used (this one does look pretty new) but it's more friendly noise wise for the neighbours and the holiday inn express

On my way to immigration the other day and it appeared that something might be happening at the other Holiday Inn Express site on Thappharya Rd.

If you get off the baht bus at The Avenue shopping mall on 2nd road, it is only a half kilometer walk to the Holiday Inn Express.

Baht bus on Pattaya Tai (across from the school) to Soi Buakaow, then baht bus up Buakaow to the Holiday.

there is a worker shack at the back and it looks like the site is being prepared for construction. i don't have a photo but i'm almost certain the piling here was done around 3 years ago and nothing has happened since.

this place when done (2.5 /3 years) will be a short distance from soi 16 then diamond and of course Walking Street

Just like Travelodge on Soi 15

I checked out the livestream by a guy whose name can't be mentioned here and he came across the aftermath of the fire and found a fellow who had been sleeping in the hotel.  This fellow related in colorful language how the stairway he was using to escape the fire was clogged with people dragging their suitcases along with them.   I never considered that people would do that in a fire but it could have caused people to die (and who knows if some were injured because they ended up staying the smoke too long).
