I am about to book hotel for my June trip. This time, I am looking for some luxuries , a quality room with sea view. I found these 2 to have sea view room . Any experience on these 2? Or anyother suggestion ? Thank you

Neither are good location, unless you want to haggle with taxi's at night, what about the Hilton? perfect location, fantastic views

You might like to consider The Wave and Mera Mare hotels, both on Beach Road.

Stayed at Royal Cliff a few year ago. Fantastic rooms and view. Location though isn't the best in terms of getting home at night.

I can imagine, stayed at island view and mountain beach in years gone by,both out of the way places so baht bus or moto taxi every time you want to go down town.Things are better now though with various establishments around the area.By the way whats the beach call up there, been on it numerous times years ago but cant remember its name.

I have stayed at the InterContinental multiple times when it was a Sheraton - GREAT property!  The pools are amazing, and it has the most "resort" feel of any place that I have stayed in Pattaya.

I'm a big fan of the place and plan to stay there again.  Since I have Platinum status with IHG (and a buttload of IHG points), the changeover was good news to me.

There ARE downsides:

 - it ain't cheap!

 - as others have pointed out, it is isolated.  This means getting gouged by taxis to get to/from the hotel (although they had a shuttle to/from Central Festival when it was a Sheraton - they would drop you off at Walking Street on the way, if you asked).  Still it's not THAT bad - you may be able to negotiate 200 baht, but I found 250-300 baht to be a far more common price.

 - another big downside to the location is that there really isn't anything that I found to be "walking distance" from it.  If you're at the Hilton or Marriott, for example, you can walk off the property and have a multitude of dining/drinking options right next to you.  Not so at the InterContinental (although I just may not have seen them driving into/out of the hotel)

 - with InterContinental taking over the property recently (I think change was April 1), they reportedly will be making repairs/renovations, so noise could be an issue -- see this article: http://www.4hoteliers.com/news/story/15504

Even with the downsides, I think it a spectacular property, and I can't wait to stay there again!
