I want to take a 12 inch screwdriver with me (don't ask) on the flight. I'm flying with Qatar Airways and I've checked their website and there's no mention of screwdrivers on the banned list of items for checked baggage. Its prohibited in the hand luggage but not mentioned in the checked baggage. Is it safe to assume its allowed ?  Anyone here taken a screwdriver with them ? 

No problems, I brought a set of screwdrivers for UK to thailand.

I've actually taken a set of knives over on checked baggage so I'm sure you'll be ok with a screwdriver

 

And I checked with KLM via Twitter beforehand and they said no problem.

I always pack a "Leatherman" in my checked bag.

Never had a problem.

My brother collects knives and has brought over many during his trips around the world . Never a problem . 

Funny I was leaving Swampy and going through

the carry on check The Lady said why do you

have a screw driver in your bag? I said I don't

she said yes you do, so we emptied out everything

and I said see no screw driver she finally checked

my spare eye glass case and sure enough there

was a small screw driver to tighten up the hinge,

I said dam I didn't remember putting that there,

she just smiled and gave it to me to put back in the

case.  

Checked luggage okay, carry-on luggage not okay.

I thought you could really take anything in your checked baggage. Now that your question's been answered though:

We do have to ask! What's it for, and why not buy one for a pittance when you get to LOS?

I had exactly the same question.....I guess this is just another mystery that'll never be solved

I have had jewellers screwdrivers refused as carry on in Australia.I didn't have checked baggage so I posted it to myself.Best in checked luggage.
