tourism industry have attempted to attract more high-end Chinese travellers, such arrivals to Pattaya remain small. The THA estimates this segment of travellers accounts for 10% of total Chinese arrivals...

TAT should 're-think' the whole strategy of targeting the high-end Chinese market for Pattaya. It's UNlikely to ever happen.

 

Instead, as Las Vegas had to do, go back to the 'basics' of marketing Pattaya as an 'adult playground.'

I live in Las Vegas. "high end" Chinese tourists DO NOT visit Pattaya, they go to Las Vegas or California! TAT should encourage more middle class/low class tourism because it will make up in numbers. I remember a few years ago that Visas were FREE. That was a good move and numbers flooded in.....

 

Ever doubtful that Pattaya will be full given all the new construction and hotels every 5 feet. They truly are popping up buildings like crazy, I know a few people that own. I remember having a picture of View Talay 8  around 9 pm with only 1 light on in the whole building; low occupancy. Hotels are sure feeling it.

With the political climate in Thailand, they should be happy that they have 60% in Pattaya, not to mention any other location in Thailand.  I would think that the numbers would be much much lower if they only counted non Thai numbers!
