I had booked from London to Bangkok, out on 11th May 2016, return 1st June 2016.

 

Just received notification of cancellation of my return journey. Pain in the ass. Looks like that Airline is not getting enough traffic, or maybe some other reason. I can still get out on the 11th May, but they do not resume flights until the 28th January 2017.

 

Ah well, that's life. I'll sort it out somehow.

Ask them if they are prepared to put you up in a hotel and pay you expenses until they get you home again,

What does the fine print on your ticket says? Would assume you can cancel FOC and it should be fairly easy to find a route out of London that fits time & wallet

Did they give a reason?

I can't find anything on their website and when I tried to book your dates from LHR to BKK and back it quoted a price.

...but they do not resume flights until the 28th January 2017.

It doesn't male sense that an airline would discontinue fights for that long. They would lose customers and either lose airport access or pay money for nothing. Not a good business decision at all!

 

I just looked at a flight from BKK to LHR with them in September and it gave me flight options, likewise for the 1st of June. I think you need to have a good word with them, or whoever you booked with, as something is not right.

If return sectors have just been cancelled could be a myriad of reasons why. As its well in advance it could be a slot issue. Turkish will reschedule you or agent will refund. Who did you book with. Turkish show high passenger loads so wont be lack of traffic.

Bear in mind that thread on Oman I started recently despite booking some 5 months before return sectors I was offloaded as overbooked and only when I sent a few emails was suddenly I reinstated

 

Edited.......Go into Amadeus the worldwide reservation system and enter the Airlines 6 character reference along with your surname and enter. (you want airlines reference not agents if you used one)

OP, which ticket agency did you use? Some of the bucket shops advertise rates they cannot honour then give you bullshit excuses... "you failed a random security check" is a common one. Did your cancellation come from the airline itself or the ticket agency?

I'm booked with them at the end of June. I've just checked my dates on skyscanner and Turkish is coming up as bookable

Turkish Airlines are selling tickets on their website from both Heathrow and Gatwick for random dates in September?

Yes. I think either the OP has misunderstood or he's being shafted by his agent.

As far as I can see, flights are still being sold to BKK and back from LHR, LGW & BHX for all dates.

This is a bit of a worry.

 

I'm due to fly back uo the UK on 28th May, and the online timetable still shows a number of flights on that day.

 

Is it possible that they have just cancelled one of the flights, not all of them?

Tell them they must book you on a flight home at their expense. I would go after them in small claims court if they try any bs.

Are you sure that they weren't inviting you to reschedule your return leg for any time up Jan 28? Seems much more likely to me.

Bit bemused that OP comes out with this and gets offered multiple suggestions/solutions but doesn't come back to his own post.

Check my earlier post with the Amadeus link. Enter your 6 character reference and Surname. If all is well it will show "confirmed" beside all 4 sectors.

In fact, my flights are shown as confirmed on the Turkish Airlines website, so I'm not too bothered, unless they re-schedule things so that I get back to Heathrow so late that I have to doss on the airport instead of getting home that night.

Excellent seats food, entertainment. Nice little gimmick is the bar up-front where all is served from, drinks  - nuts - food & whatever
