I will be arriving BKK on 16th May 2016 @ 18.50. I expect to spend one hour in voa. The bell service will not be available. I intend to catch 389. Where to get down in pattaya. I want to reach soi honey where my hotel is situated. I have one handbag and a normal bag luggage. Help appreciated. 

Why don't you try to engage Nam or Meow taxi?

Before boarding ask where the bus terminates, if its last stop is North bus terminus than you'll have a reserve a baht bus for private hire to so honey, should be around 100-150, or you can take a moto taxi as well.

 

If the bus is heading towards Jomtien depot then you need to get down at Pattaya Klang, from there you can either avail a reserved baht bus or take two baht buses' to reach soi honey.

Get off at the 389 bus station, the last stop in Pattaya on Thappraya Road.  There may be baht buses waiting inside the bus station lot to take special trips, ignore them, they over charge.

 

Instead cross the street, Thappraya Road and flag down one of the normal busses running the regular route. Cost to Soi Honey is 20 baht. It is about 5km, a 12 to 15 minute ride depending on traffic. 

 

The normal route follows Thappraya Road down to PhraTamnak Road on to 2nd Road. Look for the landmark, the backside of Mike's Shopping Mall,  Soi Honey is about 200m after that.

I arrived last January at Bkk around 19.00 hrs. By the time I had cleared immigration picked up suitcase it was nearly 20.00 hrs. The 389 ticket seller took great delight in telling me the 8pm and 9pm buses were sold out and would have to wait until 10pm for the bus. The 9pm and 10pm buses terminate at North Pattaya Rd bus station. The website tells you this and the ticket seller reaffirmed this. You will have a problem arriving at N Pattaya bus station after 11pm as there's very limited Baht buses and the motor taxis will want 100 Baht +  You will probably have to take a private Baht bus for 200-250 Baht to get to Soi Honey

 

If you can't for sure make the 8pm bus would definitely take a taxi from airport. Pre book and its 1000B. or try share one if there's anyone on your flight going.

I shared a taxi when I arrived just after 10pm last November and the journey to my hotel door was only 70 minutes, cost me 650 Baht

Can one even turn onto Klang from Sukhumvit these days with the tunnel construction? In January and last month I had a driver pick me up at the airport and both times he took me a different way to Klang than on Suk.

 

I'm lazy, I just have PT Taxi or some other service pick me up at the airport and take me straight to my hotel for 1000 baht. But different people like to save a few baht different ways here and there. To each his own. If I'm going when the Bell Bus is running great, if not I get a car/driver.

I think you bring up a valid point for others who read this thread in the future. For the OP, he arrives in May, low season and it is much less likely that he will run into the problem of several buses in a row being sold out.
