Just a heads up with Omans 2nd flight added out of Heathrow and their evening departure out of Bangkok now connecting on short connection prices have dropped even further.

Omega via Travel Supermarket have a mix of evening and morning flights from £351 in May....

At the moment biggest economy seats out of UK to Bangkok at 34" pitch on their A330's but with the additional flights looks like they are using their new Dreamliners on the Muscat Bangkok sectors which are only 32"

Booked with them for Christmas/New Year 2016/2017 flght as a short stopover on both legs (just over an hour) and price was £300 cheaper return than both Eva/Thai Airways.

Does if you're 1.90 tall but I expect to be uncomfortable for 12 hours so no big deal if I am

Be aware that the new flight is out of a different terminal at Heathrow - at least for now!

 

Tomorrow (April 12) Oman Air’s new second daily flight will touch-down at London Heathrow (see news February 25).

 

But instead of heading towards Oman Air’s usual Terminal 3 the new flight will taxi across to Terminal 4.

 

Why you may ask? Well, Muscat-based Oman Air bought the slot from Kenya Airways (see news March 2) for the record price of US$75 million.

 

It is a peak-time arrivals slot and it’s understood there is no free space to accommodate passengers within Terminal 3.

 

Therefore Oman Air is obliged to use the space previously allocated to Kenya Airways within Terminal 4. (Note Kenya Airways was and still is using T4, but its new slot is now leased from KLM who owns a share of KQ).

 

Details of this arrangement are now posted on Heathrow Airport’s website.

 

It is not the first time that airlines have had to split their flight operations at Heathrow.

 

British Airways is a good example today with flights split between Terminal 5 and Terminal 3. But BA allocates each destination to a specific terminal.

 

Oman Air’s arrangement has the potential to cause passenger confusion (both for arriving and departing travellers) because it’s using one terminal for its Muscat flight in the morning and another in the evening.

 

Hopefully the situation will resolve itself when the airline scheduling committee juggle next season’s timings.

 

It is then that Oman Air will have to decide whether to consolidate its operations at Terminal 3 or Terminal 4.

 

But in the meantime ensure you use the correct terminal. For those passengers unacquainted with Heathrow, let me assure you that Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 are far apart

 

The new Oman Air flights using Terminal 4 are:

 

WY103 Muscat-London 0125-0630

WY104 London-Muscat 0825-1850

Existing Oman Air flights using Terminal 3 are:

 

WY101 Muscat-London 1400-1905

WY102 London-Muscat 2050-0720

Have you actually been there ST ??  I love the airline but the airport is from the 1970's and you're still bussed to the aircraft. New Terminal being built currently is around year behind schedule but hopefully will open later this year

Edited £1344 on Oman. Bear in mind they've won Best Business in the industry on Skytrax many times as well

 

Cheapest were the Turks at £1155 standard connections both airlines

Not seen Oman at £1344 - guess it's my dates, or it's dropped recently.

Looks like I won't be able to travel this Summer anyway but I keep an eye on fares just in case.

 

I'd probably do direct on Eva for £1600 over indirect at £1344 but I think Eva's offer ends in a couple of weeks.

 

I've seen Turkish at £1150 from BHX and LGW but not LHR.

 

Edit: just checked my dates and best I see is £2155 for Oman & £1688 for Turkish out of LHR.

on May 10th went down yet again to an amazing £329.87 with omega flight store wow what a price.

Never in my 30 years of going to Thailand have i seen it this cheap with a very good airline.

These levels are right on the button of what I was paying on Tarom and Balkan very early 90's along with Lot, Uzbekistan and Biman. The profit in the old days must have been HUGE on these routes because not only are we 25 years on in salaries expenses fuel was lower than even it is now AND charges were a tenner !!

Ive not used Omega but the offers are genuine as the agent leaders in price Travel Trolley and Crystal are only a few quid more.
