Old article but still looks like services are available

Services

Looks like the cheapest price is $100USD

Never tried any of these. Why not just buy a cheap phone there? They start at about half of what you would pay for trying to unlock your phone. Granted it may be a POS, but what does it really need to do for you? They're good enough for gps, web, email, line, skype, whatsapp, etc.

Are you sure they will not unlock it for overseas use? Here in Australia the telcos "must" unlock your phone if you ring and tell them you need it unlocked, worth asking the question.

I'm sure if you get it unlocked in Thailand they will jail break the phone, that's a lot different than your telco unlocking it. Jail breaking your phone will render your guarantee useless if you have one.

As far as I'm aware jailbreaking your phone will not unlock your carriers anymore. This stopped about 2-3 years ago. I've had all my iphones jailbroken from ios 6-8. I just recently upgraded to ios 9 and now no longer see the need as most of the features I used (tethering, etc) are now allowed by my carrier.

I do see http://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-and-devices/unlocking-your-iphone-and-using-it-on-another-network

I would definitely check with your carrier. You could also try using an old phone possibly. If its fully paid it should be unlocked.

Thanks bmarley71, I didn't realise jail breaking a phone no longer unlocks your carrier, sneaky bastards lol.

Here in Australia our biggest telco Telstra used to charge about $150AUD (roughly 3750 baht) if you wanted your phone unlocked, thankfully they were made to drop those charges and unlock phones on request free of charge.
